I knew they were big, but I was still surprised when I got close.

Also I didn't hear any terrible noises, see any birds slaughtered or feel like my soul was being ripped out of my body.:crackup:

There are a crap ton of these up by the cottage. The wind from the west off Lake Huron is fairly reliable. Lots of controversy and angst over these but they really are very big, impressive installations. I questioned the bird strikes and my brother said the tips of the wings are moving at about 200 mph. Pfft, I said, without considering the math.

Early the other evening, the sun was low and just at the right angle and I could see the shadow of the blade of one sweeping down over the front of a farm house and across the road in front of me and man, it was moving - fast! I guess he was right.

But, yeah, didn’t see any birds slaughtered. ?

The yellow one is a Raptor! It just needs a big F O R D on the front.

I can see 26 windmills from my home on Lake Erie. I much prefer looking at those over the coal stacks at Naticoke power generating station before they knocked them down. The problem is, the coal plant actually produced power instead of feeding an illusion that green energy is going to save us.

I hear you - the irony of the turbines in this area is that, while they are always built within a certain distance of existing transmission lines, the transmission lines closest to these are the big ones coming from Bruce Nuclear Generating Station, just up the road. ?

My Ford 8N project is almost done. Tires came in today. So I couldn't resist a good picture to post. looks like the grey ones outnumber the blue one.

In my highly partisan opinion Ford makes some bad ass vehicles. The one on the left is a 1950 model.

Parked next to the best lodging deal I ever got. Camp Grayling Officer’s Club room above the bar, $12! Very convenient for accessing the Au Sable River for fly fishing. Already booking a week for next year! Finally taking advantage of some military retiree benefits!

Love those signs - Open Daily, Sorry we’re closed. ?

Where is this Perry? I’ve been all over BC but this looks drier than most places in the interior that I’ve seen. Great shot!

Thanks. I was thinking somewhere near Merritt - I’ve driven through Ashcroft a zillion times but never spent any time there - didn’t realize it was so scenic !
