Glad the drivers side went smoothly, hope you get the passenger side axle shaft sorted out in a timely manner

There is a place by where I work that rebuilds cv axles everyday, I’ll take it to them and hopefully they can fix it quick. I’m going out of town Wednesday night/Thursday morning, hopefully it all comes together. Thanks again

I can't tell from your picture but it doesn't appear that the axle is all the way in the hub to get the nut back on . Keep turning and wiggling the shaft until you feel it go in easily and can start the nut back on and it should fit together just fine .

That sounded a lot dirtier than it should be ,lol.

It doesn’t look like in the picture but it has been all the way in and tight at the hub and the other end. But the knuckle was and upper arm were to far away from each other. The only thing stopping it was the axle, like something isn’t right inside one or both boots.

You probably separated a cv joint. They do “pop” back together but the alignment has to be spot on for that to happen. The boot has to be separated and pulled back to see if you have it seated. Then put the boot back and tension clamp it.

I just removed the axle and I’m going to see if the experts can tear apart and rebuild it. There is a place across the street from my work that does it all the time. If not I’ll just buy a new axle and try to fix this one for a spare.

Looks like your outer cv pulled apart. I did mine the other day inner cv pulled apart had to pull the axel, pull back boot to get it back together. Tried on the truck but couldn’t get it.

I struggled through the same exact process on my driver's side. Although the axle seems like it is in place, it's still not seated and you need to do some manuevering to get it all the way back in. It's infuriating, but everything suddenly fits when you hit the right angle. Take the brake calliper and rotor off as well to make things easier.

The picture looks just like my subaru when I'd let go of the hub and it would pop the cv out....

I always keep a spare cv on hand whenever I'm doing anybwork on the subi, just in case. It's not worth the headache to put it back in just right when I can buy one for ~75 bucks...

The way the cv boot us cupped in is what indicates, to me, cv might not be set in correctly.

Thanks everyone for the help. I took my axle to a shop today and sure enough I messed it up good. Pulled both ends apart inside the boots and broke the c-clip on the axle side. They rebuilt it for $80 and about 45 minutes. Got the truck all finished up tonight and getting an alignment tomorrow. Thanks again

Glad you were able to get it rebuilt!

I am looking forward to disassembling my front end for the first time. LOL
