Any suggestions where to source metric center bolts?

Hi Dave,

The spring center bolt has a very rough life and I suggest you not use a "hardware" store bolt. Not sure if the Ford Dealer can get it, but there are many independent spring shops that should be able to help. Old days, it was a Grade 8 bolt but it is likely 10.9.

Phil, I am definitely not skimping on these. @SOHK_Alumni indicated they are 10mm with 14mm head, it looks like 3/8" leaf center bolts with 9/16 head are really close to the metric dimensions. I'm going to reach out to a couple of local shops on Monday. Ford's online parts website doesn't even show them as a part on the diagram/list.

Any spring shop will have them as well as some off road shops, the ones I just got were 3/8" x 2 1/2" from Riteway spring in Sun valley Ca.

You are aware they have a round head, no wrenching area, they are just a pin.

I am aware of the bolt design. Here's what I picked up at a local shop. Trim to fit.

Perfect!!

I found that the 1/4 shim on the left side that Ford put in to level the vehicle did not allow pin engagement into the rear end housing if I used any pinon angle shims, so I had to find bolts with a taller pin head.

You never stated what you were doing, adding a leaf or two?

I have the exact problem you describe on the left side. Dealership doesn't seem to understand even though they did the shimming. Pin is not in the hole.

I can't believe what I found when I got the left side leaf/shim stack apart. The head (pin) was about a half a diameter away from the leaf perch hole. No wonder my thrust angle was off. I will share my findings and how I fixed a TSB 20-2277 install done wrong in the Take-off shudder thread.
