Keep your stock lug nuts, but change the color w/o paint (or PlastiDip!)

I put 100K michigan salty/dirt road miles on my Focus ST (2013) and I have 43K miles on my Ford Ranger (2019) and the lug nuts still all look and work like new. I've not had any issues yet, so it's possible they solved the problem, and it's also possible we're just lucky.
Good for you. That doesn’t mean there hasn’t been thousands and thousands of issues with Ford’s lug nuts with aluminum covers. A quick internet search will show this. After dealing with this issue two weeks ago I’ll happily spend $80 so I don’t have to find out if this issue is resolved or not.

My last pic on this topic - Had a metric bolt in my Hdw pile and threaded the 2 together. You can really see the difference! Sending these back....
Probably will go Dorman and stay with chrome, just in case the black coating has an impact on retention.
