Yep, “searching” gives me that message in the photo while driving. “Browsing” the USB device tells me it’s unavailable both parked and while driving, and whether the engine is on or off.
OK, if it’s all the time then it’s possible it’s indexing. That would disable the browse capability too. If it doesn’t go away, you can try forcing a re-index of the device.

I am not really seeing a reason to do the update? I like the black night background and it looks like that is gone. Seems hit or miss on the clarity of the reverse camera? Are there any added features?

I really like the look of the 3.4 update but I am just really pissed I lost my climate controls. The physical controls on the dash are a pain in the butt to see during the day so I used the touchscreen exclusively. Otherwise, I think it is a worthwhile update.

Nevermind that you can't control even half the functions without the touchscreen, dual climate mode, vent location, etc.

Had a chance to play with Sync 3.4 while driving. I play my music from a USB, and am unable to search. Keep getting message that “browsing is unavailable now”. While the truck is moving, I get this message when trying to search:

Anyone else?
Me too. Even when I'm parked. The only thing it will do with my USB stick of music is play all. Everything else I try says browsing is disabled.

Yes they've screwed up the usb real good.

Browse > New search > scroll to the bottom and select Explore Device > Music folder, at this point I can see and select from the list of playlists I created on my ps3. Explore Device is the only way I can get to them. Every other option tells you Browsing currently unavailable.

Try the forced re-index through the Settings - Media Player menu. That might get it out of whatever odd state it’s in.

Can you still play media using voice? Browsing is just a shortcut to the screen, so that is expected to act the same as a UI search. Just curious. You can submit a bug report via the analytics & diagnostics menu.

I just checked and I don't have a media player menu under settings.

Source to USB first. It only becomes an active option when it's the active source.
Lol, just figured that out. Reindexing worked perfectly, Thanks!

Excellent. Not sure why it appears to be glitching with the "legacy" database, maybe something with that changed from v3.3 to v3.4.

So in reading through all of the posts in this topic, I'm currently using sync 3.3 and have 118 maps. What is the best way to go, update to sync 3.4 and then go to maps 119? Or should I just update to maps 119 knowing that I'll lose my climate controls on the touch screen, please let me know your thoughts, thanks much.

Yep, that's exactly the state mine is in, even after re-indexing the USB.

Do play voice commands work, or does it throw an error message?
I just re-indexed. It is now searching properly. Yes, the voice commands are working too. One thing about the voice commands though, If my iPhone is plugged in, when I push the Voice button on the steering wheel, Siri comes up, rather than the Sync voice menu.

EDIT: I should add, when Siri comes up, it searches my phone for music, rather than the USB.
