True but when a storm is coming (there's usually plenty of warning) I can fill up several gas cans and store them. I can't do that with electricity unless I have an elaborate battery storage system costing thousands. If/when the grid goes down it's sometimes out for day after bad storms. We had a nasty one back east in 2011 and it knocked out power in some areas for weeks. At least with a full tank of gas and an extra 20 gal of gas I could ride it out easily. You're stuck when your EV goes dead.
You could buy one of those small, portable Russian nuclear power plants and have all the electric you need. I think you can find the ads in Renegade Off Grid or Gentleman's Mercenary Monthly...??

No worries I'm going to be rich soon. I just got an email from a Nubian Prince who's a lost lost relative. He said I just won $50,000.000.00 and all I have to do is wire him $20K to get it wire transferred to my bank.?

When the grid goes down I will be one of the few that still has to work. When Covid first started they brought in travel trailers and purchased 4 refrigerators full of food and new bedding. We were expected to stay on site for 2 weeks minimum. We were given state issued documents to carry with us for safe travel if the city was put on lockdown.

This pic still shows all the keyboards covered in plastic because we were sanitizing surfaces twice a day. This is my office desk.

Whatcha gonna do when the water levels drops below the turbine intakes ? The beer in those 4 refrigs won't taste as good when warm.

Your thinking of wrong tech. I don’t work at Hoover dam. No water ever touches my combustion turbines. I will be better off compared to the public sitting at home in the dark.

If power is off, warm beer is nothing to be upset about. No beer, now that would be an issue.

Have you been up the Holy Cross City trail ? maybe 15 yrs back was with a friend who tried it with his Jeep Wrangler and had to turn back when it got too hairy. Been maybe 10 yrs since I've been to that Homestake Reservoir area, it was really crowded , dusty and noisey. Some very rugged trails in the HC wilderness.

I've heard of it. But haven't been up it. We've got a lot of trails that exceed my level of skill or my vehicles though. No problem with turning around for me. I've got no ego.

Homestake, being close to the Denver metro is crowded AF lately.

0-60 in 2 secs? Not with a manual trans. Hell, even Tesla's claim to 0-60 in under 2 secs. is dubious, as they don't include the starting roll.

Tesla Plaid 0-60 Claim
I think the powers that be are happy letting the EV makers build and advertise all these ridiculously fast 0-60 times right now . It certainly helps create interest and sells electric vehicles . I can foresee them cracking down on HP numbers or limiting power in the future , for our safety , to increase range on a charge and protect the environment of course . This will be immediately after they mandate that all EVs report the data for mileage and KW used during every charge cycle so that they can tax people for every mile/Kw used .

yes, like how the sport bikes are limited to 186mph top speed from the factory.

My 2008 Triumph Sprint ST was speed limited to 265 kph (165 mph) - I never bothered to find out. My 2015 Trophy SE was speed limited to 130 mph. Thinking 110 mph was all I ever did on either. Took little time and was great fun getting there. The newer gen bikes have built in 'speed shifters' - have yet to ride one. 2008 Sprint ST stock image.

Dunno about current sport bikes. But in 1986 it was Honda Hurricane vs Kawasaki Ninja in the top speed wars for factory bikes. They came to a “gentlemens agreement” to limit the top speed at the ECU to an agreed 186 mph.

There was a cool commercial that said even the Ninja must hide from a Hurricane.

I knew the Hurricane as the CBR 1100F. Dynoed at 110 RWHP - heady stuff back in the day. My Sprint would hit the dyno at 110-115 RWHP while the latest Triumph triples hit the dyno at 155-160 RWHP. The Ducati Panigale V4R is the current dyno champ at 204 RWHP. Priced around $40k US last time I checked.

Not sure if it is still , but my 2005 Hayabusa would go faster everyone said if left in 5th gear than it would in 6th . The most I ever saw indicated was 176 on the speedo though .

Retired, work is a four letter word.
the point is, we are all so connected, the grid controls us alot more than anyone thinks.
sure we can fear monger and make remarks about this and that being better or worse, or we can plan for this and that...but in the end, we are firmly grasped by the balls and they're about to twist them. a day or two without power wont affect a fully charged electric car any worse than it will affect a gasser with gas cans on standby....but go a week or longer and we are all in the same boat.
I agree (not that my opinion means anything), wildfires here knocked out power in a large area for weeks, and the state was loaning generators, hauling drinking water, and passing out emergency supplies. You never know when some sh*t will go down. My house is on/off grid and I can go off grid as long as the sun shines (out here a lot) plus I keep my RV tank full (80 gal) and its on board generator can power the house in case of storms for a long time. Am I a preper...to a small degree, I just realize that some things are out of your control, and you need to be somewhat ready to take care of yourself. Also, remember when the East Coast grid went down? people go nuts when the power fails, so you need to be prepaired for that as well. <puts away soapbox>

I wonder with all the new tech this Jeep has, they have fixed the lame clutch/flywheel setup of the Wrangler. Anyone who has driven a manual 6 Spd late model Wrangler will tell you, an automatic is far superior when you get into the tight stuff. The flywheel is too light and the clutch linkage a kludge at best.
