Installing a Bus Bar and need advice please:

But it ends up under this vent:

Does anyone think this would be a problem? I don't totally understand the purpose of this vent to begin with.

I am not 100% sure but I would think that vent lets heat escape from in the front of the radiator area when not moving. Just a guess. But should not be a issue. Just my .02...

My opinion is it is a poor place to install something that blocks air movement. I suggest you rethink this.

That’s the primary air flow path for your intake shroud to the left of that vent hole. Definitely don’t want to block that

And this is my general feeling as well, however:
The bus bar in that position doesn't block any air flow coming in from the grill, and that peculiar vent is only on the passenger side. If it was really a thing, wouldn't they put one on both sides? It just seems so odd.

During testing it was noted that componets were above their maximum temperatures. The airflow is likely not intuitive to you, but I will tell you that the vent was needed for airflow reasons. We do not put vents in components in symmetry in the horsecollar shroud just to do so.

How do we feel about the same spot on the driver side? No vent, no obstruction, just a slightly tighter spot and a more complicated bracket.

I'm new to the automotive enthusiast world. I didn't catch the bug 'til I got my Ranger, now I have the full on disease!
Still learning. That said, while engines remain a mystery to me, I have many years of electrical behind me. This is the part I don't mind doing.
...I crimp a pretty mean lug if I do say so myself! ?

OK, new plan...
I modded a fence post bracket (Lowes)

that I'll screw in to a rivnut. No drilling required, there was a factory hole.

I'll mount the bus bar enclosure to that.

In this location, the box doesn't obstruct air flow

3 last thoughts:

• Pay no attention to the fact that I ran over the box. A new one is coming. oops...
• I have nicer, lower cap screws coming to replace the klunky hex bolt.
• I have a nice blue rustoleum that i'll spray the bracket with

I'm running a 1/0 cable from here...

I popped that M8x30 bolt through a factory hole. I'll use it as a junction point to connect the winch, a relay box, and a cable to the bed.
I've read so many articles and threads about grounding a winch. The most compelling comment I've seen, was something on our site about not bypassing the truck's BMS. I'm gonna focus on that and make the best connections possible.

Does anyone have power run to the bed? If so, what gauge cable did you use?
I have an ARB Twin Compressor back there now awaiting hook-up, and maybe a fridge in the future.
