Hey yall

I am attempting install of the fox suspension stage 1 kit. I’ve run into a bit of a snafu. Looking for some advice from any of you who’ve installed this kit (or have more mechanical knowledge than me!)

I’ve attached a couple shots of the problem - I took the axle out of the hub as specified to prevent the cv joint from disconnecting. However on putting it back together there is a quarter inch or so of space - it appears as though the axle is not going all the way back into the hub.

Any ideas on what could be the issue and next steps? Does not budge from its position

Improper seating is first image, followed by proper flush seating on other side, followed by a pic of the cv on the improperly seated side.

much appreciate any advice here

thanks

Did you try articulating the joint at all by wiggling it around? The two are sensitive to angle when re inserting.

I'd also check to see if any debris got in there.

If not I might try GENTLY pulling it in with the axle nut if you can get any threads on it.

If you purchased new axle nuts I'd use the old one to pull it in.

I should also note I had to Jack up the suspension to reattach the upper control arm. There was no chance of getting it back up without doing that. From the videos I watched I was surprised to see them simply pull them together. Making me wonder if there’s a reason mine dropped so much more.
I’ll try pulling on it with the axle nut @D Fresh

Also note, if you over tighten the axle nut, the hub and CV will grind together. Your 2nd picture looks like the two are too close together.

Hmm ok. That’s taken on the side that I’ve not started on yet though so if it’s too close it’s been that way from factory

perhaps if I just put on the axle nut and tighten it the gap will close, wanted to check nothing is wrong with the cv before I attempt securing things down.

I attempted to do the fox 2.0 kit last weekend, 8 hours later we had the struts in but had to lower the preload collar significantly. Just picked up the truck today from a shop who un-f'd my mistakes....

The videos online are very deceiving.

They had the tools/knowledge to properly compress the spring and get the proload collar back to where it's supposed to be, do the fine tuning so both sides were dead even, and the alignment. Labor cost was half what they would've charged me to do the full swap out, so I still came out ahead (or so I tell myself).
