Oh, I wish I would have seen this thread earlier. I had the Fox shocks on the rear with the mid-level OME springs. Hit a series of whoops on I80 in SD and blew out the fox shocks. Drove up to Montana and got my GoFast camper and then drove all the way home to Maine with blown rear shocks. I bought the OME shocks that go with the 1100 pound weight? I think? Heavier than the springs required anyway. They work fine with the Fox front and the OME rears. No issues other than the squeaks and odd grinding from the brakes occasionally, but that's a recent issue. Probably have 20,000 miles now on the OME/Fox combo.

Ah. I do think I saw your thread or comment about that. My backup is definitely replacing the rears with the OME shocks. I find it so strange you ran into that when the specs say they should be fine compared to the OME shocks.

when yours blew do you know if it was from over extension or compression?

I'm guessing over extension, because I did go airborne. After that the truck didn't handle right. Once I got the camper installed it was downright scarey. Now, it tows a 4000 pound cargo trailer level, plus the camper. I'm right at my payload limit. Tows good after I replaced those crappy Hankook tires. Wouldn't have thought a LT tire would make that much of a difference.

so strange as the specs list the fox actually extending farther than the OME, perhaps one is misreporting. Sounds like you were unloaded when they blew? If that’s the case I’ll definitely be adding weight in the back when the camper is off, and try not to go airborne!

Not completely. I had the pullkitchen in the back, my Dometic dual zone fridge and a homemade plywood tonneau cover and assorted tools. So maybe 400 pounds-ish? I don't remember hitting bumps stops. I haven't done anything quite like that since.

Oh, and I had the Ford Performance Parts by Fox, if that makes a difference. I know the coil in the front struts are different, maybe the stroke on the rear shocks are too? I think when I checked the length, either on Stage 3's or Fords website, the Fox shock was .1 inch less than the rear Spring could stretch.
