I'm apprehensive about letting a human DR near my eyes no way I'm letting a robot near them! I think AI is good for some things/fields but IMHO having them operate is taking it way too far.

You want to replace counter workers at fast food joints with them I'm all for it. Once they mandated $17/hr (in some states) I knew this would be the future because no fast food business can sustain that rate. Plus I don't eat there anyways but from what I've heard most are already replaced by a Kiosk.
Yup, that’s what I find so ironic about the minimum wage increases. People went from complaining about their hourly wages to complaining about not having a job at all because a computer screen replaced them at the register lol!

I was always taught that if you want more money, do better at your job or find a company that’s willing to pay you more. I also find it ironic that the people who are usually complaining about their pay rate are the ones that can’t do much else with their lives. Not trying to knock anyone, but people need to realize that low-skilled jobs earn low-level paychecks. If you want a “livable wage” bring something worthwhile to the table. No employer is going to pay you more just because you think you’re entitled to it. If that were the case, we’d all be millionaires.

The other thing they (low wage workers) don’t realize is just because they got a higher hourly rate they still lost buying power. Now because of the wage increase all these businesses had to raise their prices because the cost of doing business (taxes, insurance, workers comp etc…) just went up. So while these low wage workers “think” they gained something here they really lost all their buying power as prices went up across the board. They're in no better shape (most are in worse shape) than they were before! 🤦‍♂️

I ran a bread route years ago and delivered to a few fast food restaurants.

Canes and chik fil a seem to being okay with paying their workers a good wage. Always stacked with help and have no kiosks They also have some of the best employees I've dealt with when ordering food and as my customer. Amazing how that works right?

Burger King? Yes they had some idiots working there. Many of the managers and shift managers were great people who were doing their best but BK would run them ragged. Limit them on how many employees they can have and the hours given. It's a crap system. Tons of complaints and bad service. High managerial turn over.

The employee training between canes/chik fil a and BK are on opposite ends.

I think the difference there is the comparison in revenue each chain brings in at the end of the year. Chick-fil-A made just shy of $23 billion in 2024 compared to BK’s $9.5 billion. A company that’s making more than double the profit can afford to keep higher staff numbers and pay them better wages.

The other part is that Chick-fil-A intentionally hires college aged kids and pays them well because they WANT them to leave and move on to better things. They offer their employees financial assistance and scholarship opportunities to help them progress in life. They’re a solid company with a good reputation, that’s why people want to work there. BK scrapes the bottom of the barrel and hires whoever walks in. They only pay their employees what they legally have to. If they can save money by replacing cashiers with iPads, they will. If they tried to do what Chick-fil-A does, they’d be out of business in a matter of months.

And show me any other fast food chain that has heated drive thrus. Even in central Va. where it doesn't often get really cold, Chic-fil-a has heated drive thrus! And they come to your car! They have an amazing business model.
Some people complain about them not being open on Sundays, I say if they can sustain their business with 6 days of great service, then I will gladly find another lower quality fast food place if I need to on a Sunday.

It's a circle.. You invest in your business and take care of your employees then there is a higher chance of success. BK could do better but they won't.

And I agree.. Chik fil A invests in their people because they want them to succeed.

My dad owned a few convenience stores and gas stations. He knew if his employees were happy they would put in good work for him. Yeah you had the few outliers but overall my dad's employees were dedicated to him and his businesses. If he succeeded they knew he wouldn't leave them behind.

It’s like old saying goes, cutting corners ends up costing you more in the long run. You’re better off spending more up front and investing in your company and employees. Everyone says happy wife = happy life… I say happy employee = higher profit!

People don’t connect the dots when it comes to wages vs real life costs. Nobody stops to think about the consequences of everyone making more money. At face value it sounds good but nobody thinks about the impact it’ll have outside of work. All they hear is “You’re getting raise.”
The same people who voted for minimum wage increases then turn around and complain about higher costs at the grocery store… You’d think they would see the pattern but apparently not.

Well, we also have politicians who lobby for this who "should" know the outcome too. But looking at ALL of them I bet you couldn't find 5 active brain cells among them!

I had a neighbor who worked at Chick-Fil-a for several years, applied for a franchise, was strenuously evaluated, and awarded a franchise in Wake Forest. I was told they only awarded franchises to employees, and screened and trained them carefully to insure quality.

Within 2 years he moved into a very high end neighborhood, and his franchise is one of the highest in revenue in NC. The move literally made the couple multimillionaires. They have renovated the store and it now has dual lane drive thru's due to volume. I would not be surprised if they owned several locations now.

Their business model is very good, but like every other enterprise, I'm sure it is nearing the end of the era of excellence, and becoming complacent.

Takes a couple of generations to see the decline. These things just take a little time...

I hate politicians… All of them. Regardless of party. They’re all power hungry dirt bags that’ll step on anyone to get what they want. I’m one of those who thinks we need less government, not more overreach.

You're a classic Jeffersonian! "The least government is the best government."

Accredited to both Thomas Jefferson and / or John Locke, but made it in print in the United States Magazine and Democratic Review, founded in 1837 by John O’Sullivan. This excerpt from 1845 is an important reminder of where and why we find ourselves today

It is under the word government, that the subtle danger lurks. Understood as a central consolidated power, managing and directing the various general interests of the society, all government is evil, and the parent of evil.
A strong and active democratic government, in the common sense of the term, is an evil, differing only in degree and mode of operation, and not in nature, from a strong despotism. This difference is certainly vast, yet, inasmuch as these strong governmental powers must be wielded by human agents, even as the powers of the despotism, it is, after all, only a difference in degree; and the tendency to demoralization and tyranny is the same, though the development of the evil results is much more gradual and slow in the one case than in the other. Hence the demagogue – hence the faction – hence the mob – hence the violence, licentiousness, and instability – hence the ambitious struggles of parties and their leaders for power – hence the abuses of that power by majorities and their leaders – hence the indirect oppressions of the general by partial interests – hence (fearful symptom) the demoralization of the great men of the nation, and of the nation itself, proceeding, unless checked in time by the more healthy and patriotic portion of the mind of the nation rallying itself to reform the principles and sources of the evil) gradually to that point of maturity at which relief from the tumult of moral and physical confusion is to be found only under the shelter of an energetic armed despotism.
The best government is that which governs least. No human depositories can, with safety, be trusted with the power of legislation upon the general interests of society so as to operate directly or indirectly on the industry and property of the community. Such power must be perpetually liable to the most pernicious abuse, from the natural imperfection, both in wisdom of judgment and purity of purpose, of all human legislation, exposed constantly to the pressure of partial interests; interests which, at the same time that they are essentially selfish and tyrannical, are ever vigilant, persevering, and subtle in all the arts of deception and corruption.
In fact, the whole history of human society and government may be safely appealed to, in evidence that the abuse of such power a thousand fold more than overbalances its beneficial use. Legislation has been the fruitful parent of nine-tenths of all the evil, moral and physical, by which mankind has been afflicted since the creation of the world, and by which human nature has been self-degraded, fettered, and oppressed.
Government should have as little as possible to do with the general business and interests of the people. If it once undertake these functions as its rightful province of action, it is impossible to say to it ‘thus far shalt thou go, and no farther.’ It will be impossible to confine it to the public interests of the commonwealth. It will be perpetually tampering with private interests, and sending forth seeds of corruption which will result in the demoralization of the society.
Its domestic action should be confined to the administration of justice, for the protection of the natural equal rights of the citizen and the preservation of social order. In all other respects, the voluntary principle, the principle of freedom, suggested to us by the analogy of the divine government of the Creator, and already recognized by us with perfect success in the great social interest of Religion, affords the true ‘golden rule’ which is alone abundantly competent to work out the best possible general result of order and happiness from that chaos of characters, ideas, motives, and interests – human society.
Afford but the single nucleus of a system of administration of justice between man and man, and, under the sure operation of this principle, the floating atoms will distribute and combine themselves, as we see in the beautiful natural process of crystallization, into a far more perfect and harmonious result than if the government, with its ‘fostering hand,’ undertake to disturb, under the plea of directing, the process. The natural laws which will establish themselves and find their own level are the best laws. The same hand was the Author of the moral, as of the physical world; and we feel clear and strong in the assurance that we cannot err in trusting, in the former, to the same fundamental principles of spontaneous action and self-regulation which produce the beautiful order of the latter.

I wonder what the founding fathers would think today if they saw America has tired into.
