Picked the truck up today. Initially looks good. No damage or rattling, etc. They reconnected my light bar switch, TBC and Auto Stop/Start Eliminator correctly. The service advisor said it was probably the rubber/foam seal inside the heater box binding up the doors. He said they replace heater boxes on all model vehicles fairly often, not necessarily a higher number of them on Rangers. He said Ford Extended Warranty approved the repair easily. The repair is warrantied for 2 years, unlimited miles deductible free. After that, I would have to pay my deductible again. Here is the repair statement.

Just a clarification to some of the earlier posts in this thread about the HVAC being fixed in 2020: My 2021 Ranger (4/21 build) w/dual HVAC had the blend door(s) fail, so it hadn't been updated yet as of that date.

Dropped mine off Monday and here it is Thursday I get the call - yup, gotta replace the box (I had printed out the bulletin and handed it over to the service dept) that they expect in a couple days.

Summer is coming on and I gotta have that AC!

My 2019 truck has about 45K miles on it and I was having intermittent problems with the AC. It took a week but I got the call today - ready to pick up. I bought the ESP and how much did this cost me?

What is about to piss me off is it says they damaged my Red Line leather boot. Someone owes me $50.

I don't hear blender door sounds while running but when my truck is off and I open or close the door, I hear something moving under the dash...but it's not a clicking noise...more like shuffling sound for a couple of seconds...thought is was a mouse at first but was able to repeat this noise by opening then closing the driver door with engine off...do you guys think this is related to the blend door failure?

Is the the sound from the engine area, just ahead of the drivers side when you open the door? I think it is the wastegate?

Not the waste gate...I'm familiar with that whirrling actuator...it's inside the dash...a quiet muffled mechanical noise like something moving back/forth and lasts a couple of seconds...wup wup wup pause wup wup...wup...and repeat..too quiet to record...

Mine clicked for over 6 months and did not go poof. I have an extended warranty. The HVAC box was replaced for my $100 deductible. If I did not have the warranty, I would have left it alone.

I had this same repair done in November of 2023 (2020 Lariat) under warranty thankfully.

Now my issue is that I have clicking noises under the steering wheel, and I cannot for the life of me figure out where the clicking is coming from. I took the truck back to the dealership last month and they pulled the dash out and "fixed it," but I am still hearing the clicking noise. Seems like it's coming from the lower a/c vent below the steering wheel. Anyone have the same issue or fixed that?

I had the airbox replaced in my Oct build 2020. I took it in 1 month prior to the end of the warranty, and it took them several months to replace it, but since I had the first appointment before the end of warranty it was covered.

I have a 22 lariat tremor i bought last fall still under factory warranty. About 3 weeks ago i started noticing clicking when i adjust the temp up or down. This is the blend door starting to go bad?

To isolate - Get it in manual mode:
Drive each side - Up and Down full travel, and note which side is making the noise.
It can be the Actuator (only) or the (HVAC-Door) we have determined that if it is the door, it will allow the drive pin to come out of the bell-crank slot and its sliding in and out of that slot. That is the clicking noise.

It's likely the HVAC blend door on the driver's side. Mine has been on and off clicking for the last couple years. Funny thing, it hasn't gotten any worse (knock wood) so I have just lived with it. One thing I started doing is to turn the system off (bottom button on the center stack) when the clicking starts, and then turn it back on which often stops the clicking.
