Hey everyone.

With the recent snow, My truck hit a spot of ice on a turn and I took out a mailbox with the front of my truck. No real damage, other than my bug deflector being cracked in half, and my passenger side fog light housing broken (Light still works, just the plastic around it).

I ordered a new set of Fogs with the housing. How difficult is it to swap the trim pieces in and out?

I'd have to look again but from memory, all the fasteners are rather easy to get to.

Remove the three, unplug connector then they should freely come out.

Little more involved than that, while not hard, there are various layers of trim you have to remove.

First are the black plastic covers, then the metal brackets, then you can access the actual housing and housing trim.

Well I guess you can skip the black trim top layer if you feel like working in a squished area. Trust me, remove all of it for a less frustrating experience of trying to maneuver your wrench and screw driver in odd angles trying to remove the stuff. With all the layers off you have a giant open area to do the work.

random loop back - as I tried blindly to "pull the plastic trim out" today . . . is there a write up some where, with pictures on how to do this from inside? All the videos I have found show pulling the front of the bumper off as the easier way to access the lights. . .

I believe you need to completely remove the bumper. On my buddy's tacoma the fog pockets are super accessible, when installing mine I definitely had to remove the entire bumper to get the trim out.

edit- i believe the crash bars are what's in the way

the cali raised video which is the best video I have found yet, shows 3 bolts (goto ~1:30) that hold the plastic to the bumper, one of which is one top and I don't see how it would be accessible from underneath . . .

I just swapped my factory halogens with the LED light assemblies, not long ago. It is a PITA to get them out, not sure how much room you will have for just the housing without further disassembly of the front bumper.

The 4 bolts in the center are for the light assembly. (itself)

I went from underneath for those, If I recall I did pull the wheel well liner loose to get better access.
not too bad to do, just need patience. as it is a tight fit
You have to feel by hand where the upper mount bolts are as they are not easily viewed.
The sad part is I had the front all apart to do the headlight assemblies, but the fogs were on backorder and came in later.

Argh, those stupid Phillips head plastic clips...

It's like they are designed to be annoying... I can see how removing the wheel liner would make it easier...

I got both of those airdamn pieces off today while futzing with it... So that's a win. ?

The trick to those plastic clips is to get under the screwhead with a thin screwdriver or fingernail and slightly pry upwards while turning the screw, I found that easier that trying to get the trim removal tool under it.
Once the screw starts to back out, you are home free, and the threads will do the work, it is just getting it started is the hard part.

Well might explain why it was so easy for me to access them when I got around to it, my crash bars were removed some years ago. lol
