what’s with the anti damp camp?
Not "anti" as much as "what is the point"? Me thinks they all have greasy fingers and lose grip easily.

So y'all convinced me to buy one, as I thought it would be helpful after installing a Mountain Hatch tailgate overlay (great infant changing table and beer holder btw).

For the life of me, I can't get the supplied screws to go flush into the damper bracket. I end up a few 16ths from flush, even after bending a hand tool. Factory bolts go back in just fine, so it isn't a threading issue. Any insight into what I'm doing wrong?

I reused factory hardware on mine. Fit great that way.

Are you saying the flat heads didn't tighten up against the bracket? Mine were not perfectly flush (like the bracket wasn't countersunk quite far enough). They did tighten up just fine through.

Exactly. Flat heads weren’t flush with brackets but still snugged down.
