i wouldnt pay much attention to the "fuel in oil" stuff. with all the electronic sensors and computer junk on new cars if something was wrong it would tell ya. the computer on the new rangers monitors darn near everything. id bet a nickel most brand new engines have a lil fuel in the oil until its broken in and things are seated well etc. if you already changed the oil and filter then great. drive it. run the truck hard. pussy footin around for 5k miles is for engines from a bygone era that are now obsolete. not saying you do that. just putting it out. im getting near 20k miles and i never checked the oil for fuel and if happens to have gas in the oil then fine by me. the truck runs like a baby daddy before child support hearings. i avg over 20 mpg even when a solid 40 % is off road with the truck loaded full of extra stuff. it pretends to be turbo diesel in terms of power and it does it pretty frugally. cant expect anything better from it. if the engine runs good and is not showing symptoms that show up while driving then it does what its supposed to do. people get over hyped when they hear something from the .00003% of owners on line and stress about it. for about a week i was dead set my center support bearing was going out. read all about it thread after thread. i stressed after hearing it making noise. took it to a mechanic who looked it over and he gave it hose down of brake cleaner (red river mud ran out) then he said nothing wrong with it. he was right. no worries friend, put a few thousand "truck use" miles on it before worrying about fuel in the oil. most likely- the rings will get broke in nicely and you will have a great engine for many years. if it goes poof its under warranty lol. as the end user consumer its not our jobs to be ford engineers or technicians or to look out for manufacture defects ? . "thats what i plan on telling the dealer when mighty mouse under the hood sends a piston through the hood at red line" . all i know as the consumer is i used it for what it was sold to me to do an now it no worky, ford fixy.
OK, I'm gonna use this in the future. This could be one of the best new analogies I've heard in a long time, so Imma gonna wear it out.

That is totally not true. I have been driving turbo vehicles continuously for the past 37 years and have accumulated approximately 3/4 of a million miles on them. I have never had a gas smell in the oil and that included a 2.0 Ecoboost and (3) 2.3 Ecoboost power vehicles.
Then why are we having issues with fuel in the oil? Level on the dipstick rising?

This is my 2nd Ranger, same old story, fuel in oil, the 2.7 Chevrolet’s don’t do it?

Because it's direct injection.
Fuel in the oil is seen more in engines that do a lot of short trips. Spends a greater percentage of time running rich and the oil doesn't get hot enough long enough to evaporate any fuel in it.
My work commute is 20 miles each way plus I drive a fair bit FOR work and I've never seen my oil level go up.
People who see their oil level go up, just change it more often.

All engines have some level of blow by that winds up in the crankcase. For the most part it is vaporizer and recycled through the engine by the PCV system. Folks that drive very short trips where the engine doesn't warm up completely may not drive it all off. Plus there have been a large number of folks that have had a fuel injector that leaks causing more fuel leaking into the cylinder, this issue has been fixed under warranty. Lastly, I have never talked to anyone outside this forum that has an issue with fuel dilution.

As I have said before I have had 5 Ford 2.0 and 2.3 direct injection engines (4 of them Ecoboosts) and none have had an issue with fuel dilution.

i go to town 3-4 times on the weekend,15-18 miles one way,i have 4481 miles on it right now, here lately ive been driving it in sport mode in town ,ive never got the rpm to 6000,i heard maybe driving it kinda hard will maybe help seat the rings?
it has set about 5 days straight during the week and the oil level never went up,so the fuel injectors arent leaking.
im not going to even worry about it anymore,i havent heard of a 2.3 ecoboost going bad from fuel dilution

Well we are on page 6. In the meantime, every time I need fuel, I just keep getting more and running it through the engine. Eventually, in several years, I’ll be able to answer this question when my engine wears out. :)

I didn't want to be the one to say that, but that thought has been running through my head from the first post. ?

There is a mega thread on here about this. Bottom line, no one has blown an engine or had a fire because of it. From what I can tell all of these engines have a full point that is beyond the full on dipstick. After that point it self regulates level (burns off) excess blow by.

Sounds like you have enough breakin time now to set your rings. Go out and WOT her to redline. Do that like 4 times. Your levels should be better after that. I get Blackstone reports. I have <2% gas in my oil. When I started out it was Mach higher than it is now. My level sweet spot is top hole now. I got 15.5K now and it runs nice.

I will be adding a catch can though. The more crap I can extract the better. Especially the water
how many miles did you put on your truck till the fuel dilution settled down?

Fuel dilution?
It's in the Ranger Constitution,
It's not a real problem
So it doesn't need solution,
And if you take it to Ford
I can tell you the conclusion,
"It's fine, just drive it , they'll be no restitution"...

My personal Ranger has some amendments,
Amendment # 10R80 states "Thou shall occasional be embarrassed by erratic behavior"...
