How much does it cost to get the tow package after buying used (OEM or other)?

I might be getting a 2021 Ranger, but it doesn't have the tow package, and I don't need it until later. I can price a hitch, but I'm concerned about the transmission cooler, radiator, and if it needs a more power alternator. Mostly, I don't want to blow up the transmission (or engine for that matter).

Can these be added later? Is it expensive? I don't want to void a warranty either, so I guess Ford has to install it.

the only thing to add is the hitch and possibly a brake controller (if using electric trailer brakes). the tow package does not change anything else.

Agree! Just finished mine but will still add TBC later ($$$).
Benny at LT has what you need which is the harness trade out (70) and the 7 pin adapter (45).
Went with a Draw Tite (120) hitch specced to the Ranger and I'm good to go at less than (250).
Prices are ballpark but pretty close.
BTW... Hint from another poster says the TBC install is pricey so pay extra for the controller at Ford but add the cheap dealer install. It was around (100) last I checked and it'll keep your warranty in order.
Good luck!

I was under the impression that the actual factory tow package also came with a transmission shifting feature and some other stuff.
Isn't the factory tow package a lot more than a tow receiver, electrical hookup, and a cooler?

The tow package is the hitch and the wiring harness for the 7 pin connector. That is it.
There is NO extra cooler, no extra parts or add ons.
The factory tow package DOES NOT include a brake controller of any type...it is up to the owner to add one.
All rangers come with the tow/haul button on the console. There are NO differences in the engine/transmission/drive train/axles between Rangers with or without the tow package.

Perfect! That was my real question - the controller button. Thanks
