Pull it straight up, “”they said””. It’s easy, “”they said””…………. Well, I warned you guys…… I am that unlucky guy……. I pulled it up as gently as possible with the right pry tools and everything sounded right and good as it was being pulled up, but I still managed to break the front tab holder. Oh well….. I really really really thought I was pulling it up perfectly with zero damage but shit happens. Lol…….. I’m going to try to use crazy glue to glue that black piece on and if that doesn’t work I’m going to put a 1/2” x 2” wood lag bolt screw right through the top of that sill plate and that will hold that MF down….lol.

I'm guessing your "easy" is still stronger than mine. All these years having a damper has really limited my strength!:crying:

Any glue for sure won't fix it given those forces.
But usually the plates stay on well even with a clip broken/missing.

I will be removing mine later this week (maybe later this day) to do an electric step install.

I just went from "no problems" to "oh oh". :)

you obviously didn't follow our instructions.

Those clips are designed to be pulled at 87-93* from the floor of the factory. you needed to adjust the angle based on the difference between your home and the factory. Did you do that?

Did you adjust the pulling force based on elevation and temperature? ohh and heavens don't forget the factor humidity plays in this process.

if not I do not see what you are complaining about. it is simple enough to do.

Because it surely is not the fact that they used 2 different style clips. and that the outside clips require to be pulled straight up, while the middle clips are more forgiving. . .

NOTE: I did not think this through as thoroughly until I came in here this morning and looked at the clips and how they broke on your trim piece. On a positive note, both of mine are broken and you can't really tell unless you are looking for it . . .

Stove bolt….. 5/16 x 6”. Just picked it up at the hardware store because I measured about 5 inches going through all those metal panels in the big hollow areas so I figured this would work a lot better than a wood lag because of the round head and I could always paint the round head to match the door sill. More pictures to follow after I finish this morning.

Yep, had to do that to mine too.

I have left it off for a while and have a new one for when I am done, whenever that will be.

I bought mine new in Memphis from Lander's Ford. Removed mine to run wires for ham radio and found both end clips broken and someone has tried to glue them back together. Did a good job as I never would have know if I did not install the radio. I tried to glue them backk on with no luck so I ordered a replacement from Cortese Ford for 58.12 shipped

Go with a 1/2 inch x 7 inches....you'll be able to use the excess as a jacking point !!!

Same here…. Amp Research……
If it makes you feel a little better, I broke the exact same clip when I took my sill plate off today to route the wires for the ODB plug. I am going to call it a manufacturing glitch, and more on. ;)
