Just a fyi. I ordered the kit a few months back and I got around to trying to install it a couple weeks ago and ran into a couple issues. The lesser of the two issues is that the AFE logo wasn't installed correctly on the cold side and fell off in the package leaving 4 spot welds. Not a huge issue to me and I was going to install it anyway.

The big issue that stopped me of finishing the install is that the holes to mount the BOV were drilled incorrectly and would not allow my Turbosmart or stock BOV from installing. The BOV was clocked correctly but one hole was set back to far for it to line up.

I emailed AFE and they are looking into it but it has been a few weeks. Obviously part of the delay is because of COVID but it's taking a while even considering that. Not complaining, but telling you guys what's going on.

Does the stock bypass valve line up? I had one of the early ones and it lined right up.

No, neither one did. Hole was off by the same amount and the Turbosmart BOV bolted right onto the stock pipe.

Here's a pic. May be hard to tell but it's enough to make it not work. I was going to just enlarge the hole but it is so close to the o-ring that I didn't want it to leak.

So why do some people have it installed? I’m confused is it just a small batch or all of them?

Hello hope everyone is well. I'd like to premise this question by saying this my first time nodding any vehicle. I recently installed the pipes and I get a whooshing sound/whistle when I accelerate (especially if I'm going upwards of 65mph). is that normal? Im just worried I installed it incorrectly and now its leaking. Appreciate your input and thanks for posting you guys' work! Have a good day.

Hahahaha oh man I love this. Yes that is totally normal and desired. Larger tube equals more air traveling through. The BOV Blow Off Valve is what makes that noise when releasing pressure. You will notice it when you let off the gas.
This is a great question though. Turbo heads live for that pshhhhhh so it’s funny you asked.

Haha thanks for clarifying. I ended up tightening the clamps again and now theres no more whooshing and just the whistle. Now back to reading this forum to buy something I didnt know I needed lol

Did a lot of searching but couldn't really find a good review of them.

I found people that hated them (not because of performance, but because of poor manufacturing and no support from AFE) and people that seemed to like them but they were installed along with other items so not focused on just the pipes.

I'm thinking about ordering up a set but I wondered if it would even be worthwhile on a basically stock truck (just removed factory muffler).

So, if you have them, were they worth it?

Or is your money better spent elsewhere.

Thanks!

So I installed mine the other day. Be sure to lube the o rings with some vasaline. They will catch n tare if your not lubed n careful.... (Insert tearing o-ring butthole joke here)
It took an hour tops. Just make sure you tighten everything nice. Oh and the hot pipe I found was rubbing on come coolant line clamp. Might wanna twist the clamp 45° so it doesn't rub through the aluminum thin pipe. Pic to follow

I finally got some pictures off my phone from my install. Overall, not a super hard install, but it definitely took some maneuvering and elbow grease. One huge piece of advice came from this Youtube video, which recommends loosening the intercooler bolts for a bit more clearance. The first picture below shows my ratchet on the passenger side bolt:

Here are some finished product shots and the hot side tube comparison:

I have a Turbosmart BOV installed as well and I do notice that it touches the hood lining. I have only driven the truck <1,000 miles since install so I have not observed and wear, but it may over time.
