Did a lot of searching but couldn't really find a good review of them.

I found people that hated them (not because of performance, but because of poor manufacturing and no support from AFE) and people that seemed to like them but they were installed along with other items so not focused on just the pipes.

I'm thinking about ordering up a set but I wondered if it would even be worthwhile on a basically stock truck (just removed factory muffler).

So, if you have them, were they worth it?

Or is your money better spent elsewhere.

Thanks!

I'm very happy with them...no real issue other than the clamps were too small so I used the OEM...looks great and functioning well :like:

Thanks for the feedback!

Did you install just the AFE pipes or did you add other performance improvements at the same time?

Curious if I'll get a boost in performance from just the pipes.

I know the description of them says +11HP and +22TQ, but those numbers are usually in a perfect environment, best of ten runs, all teh planets in alignment using their combined gravity to spin the dyno, etc. so I wanted to get a real world impression of them.

I self installed the pair of pipes, added GFB bypass valve and K&N filter...I'm sure there's a slight performance gain but I have no quantifiable means to determine this...that said, these are standard mods I've done my other tuner cars which have been dyno tested to clearly improve power... ?

if someone does this mod down the road to a stock truck it would be great if we could get a dyno chart baseline and after to see if it improves power or at least better response low in the curve. also you can purchase a "dragy" (gps monitoring performance calculator) and see if your 0-60 improved over baseline as well. they are relatively cheap and would provide very interesting data in the right hands.

I'm waiting for warming weather to install mine. Did you notice any difference in turbo sound, other then the bov obviously?

With the AFE sale promotion, I finally pulled the trigger on these pipes today and look forward to making the installation. That's a lie because I do not look forward to the cramped spaces, cut and gouged arms and hands, but I do look forward to the end result and besides they will look cool as hell, so I'll live with a few added scars and blood loss that I would have received doing something else anyway.

I will preface my comment about the usage of increased charge pipes with saying that the Ranger is my 7th turbocharged Ford product, so I have a little background on what works in general. Granted technology has changed tenfold since my first which was a 1979 Mustang Pace car (talk about a learning curve and many burnt pistons) but breathing is a primary building block for increased performance. Regardless of the order in which you do this, it will need to done to facilitate increased performance. If you are on the fence about these pipes, I believe this is an easy mod that will help the engine in several ways and as I said earlier, they will look super cool too!

Being a current owner of a Focus ST for over 5 1/2 years now, aftermarket charge pipes, an increased flow intake with ram air and aftermarket exhaust were my first mods. I knew going in that these would not increase HP and torque significantly, but what they did create was the ability to make HP and torque much quicker. Throttle response increased and spool up was much quicker which resulted in a faster car and better MPG. I later upgraded the intercooler and installed a very reputable and reliable tune. The results were amazing. I made mirror changes in the same order to my 2017 2.0 Escape and the results were equally impressive. The Ranger is slowly receiving the same treatment and as with the other cars, I will build my own intake/ram air system in the near future. Once the company the I use for my tunes finishes their development on the Ranger tune and intercooler, I will complete the transformation. I am anxious awaiting for that to occur and hopefully this will happen before the end of summer.

Can you provide details? Coupon code or something? Didn't see anything on their site.
Yesterday was the final day of the St. Patrick's day sale. They were offered at 15% off. That doesn't happen often

Please post up your impressions once you get them installed :like:

I am currently kind of paused on my truck as I think I may have the over fueling/fuel in oil issue (my oil level was well above the top mark at 2500 miles)

The dealer did the oil change and marked the stick to check again after 1000 mile, which at the current rate may be a couple of months.

Super cheap gas and nowhere to go. :frown:

But after that issue is resolved, I'm looking at a tune and possibly the AFE pipes.

I hope to install them this weekend. It looks fairly easy. I think the biggest obstacle is going to be seating the O-rings and getting the pipes to draw tightly to the intercooler necks

I absolutely love my charge pipes. Noticed a very big difference in spooling and sound overall. The only gripe I have with them is where the BOV attached, it's considerably taller than the factory mount so my GFB DV+ VTA rubs a little on the felt under the hood.

I should have mentioned that I did charge pipes and my catless downpipe at the same time so it's quite possible (probable even) that the downpipe did far more than the charge pipes. All I know is that after installing both, the difference was night and day!
