See everyone’s experience is different. My sales guy was around my age, soft spoken but really knew the products. A quick glance at his wall showed he was top sales guy there fo better part of a decade.

He reached out to me multiple times after the sale checking in making sure I was satisfied. Just a month ago called me and wanted to know if I would sell it back to them for something else. He knew I would say no but, don’t know for sure unless you ask.

In my mind, that builds trust and gets referrals from satisfied customers. Old school right there.

Every time I've gone to a dealership (new vehicle in particular), I knew more than the sales person. Like a lot more.
That would be true of most of us on this forum, but not the general public. A guy I work with bought a F150 a couple of years ago and when I asked him what engine he went with, he didn’t even know.

Because this is the difference between sales workers 30+ years ago and workers today. And I say that as someone only turning 40 next month. With the rise of the internet sales people now a days expect the customer to do all the work and research.

Every once in a while you will find someone in sales who takes their job seriously instead of "how much money can I make talking to this person."

Now oddly enough, young salesmen in stuff like car audio components (or similar) really get into their trade and can tell you the difference between this bell and that whistle, how much 1" increase or decrease will alter the sounds, etc etc

Sales people need to ENJOY what they are selling or they will suck at it.

I've met some 18 year old sales people that make old man sales people look like idiots.
Yep. As @OFC Ranger said the internet probably has something to do with it.

15 years ago I had a car salesman exclaimed "awesome, you know that thing has a Porsche engine, right?," when talking about my WRX. He worked at a Dodge dealership, but still.

Pretty sure my 15 year old daughter who just started driving this year knows more about cars than most sales people.

Just picked up a brand new 2021 Roush Ranger… but curious if I’m wrong here… when I go to do u-turns or even tight turns (either direction) it feels (and hears) the wheels rub pretty bad. Almost scary sounding
This really needs to be returned to the dealer. It is not a service issue. It seems that the dealer (or someone) removed the wheels and tires that are engineered by Roush and replaced them with aftermarket wheels and tires that are just too wide for this setup. Why did they do this? I don’t know. Probably to satisfy another customer. Maybe they thought the bigger wheels and tires would bring in more customers. I feel you are going to have problems with this down the line if you wait to get it resolved.

Which is?
That you can't expect an "economy" car containing tech that punches way above it's weight class to last.

If Ford offered a $20k electric vehicle with 300 miles of range, fast charging capability, self driving, and OTA updates would you jump all over it? Or would you pause and think "sounds too good to be true?"

Thanks for clarifying.

As others have mentioned here, I can confirm your Roush Ranger should have come with the Grabber ATX in 285/60/18s on Roush rims. I have a 2021 Roush Ranger and that is my set up.

Out of curiosity, which dealership did you get your Roush Ranger at?

Ah I finally see where it all went wrong for you. It's unfortunate you actually believe all car salesmen are stupid because of an incident 15 years ago with a vehicle that only became popular in North America after Fast and Furious in 2001 lol. Shame on that young boy at the Dodge Dealership!

Since 90% of your posts on this thread about how car salesmen, 10% about random shit, I would have to say lack of empathy is one of your better traits. It's crazy to think the only actual suggestion that will rectify this issue was suggested.... by a salesmen. Guess we aren't all that bad - maybe you should try being open minded.

I'd stick around to have fun with you but unfortunately as a salesmen there is one thing I'm great at and it's losing and I feel like you don't lose well.

Of course you're not all bad. That's the thing about generizations. Sometimes they are wrong. Most of time they aren't

Guess you forgot writing this?
As most sales people are stupid with modifications and lacking knowledge on the vehicles themselves...
Also apparently you missed my endorsement of your solution.

Your point about the Roush certificates is a good one though. Without going the route you suggested, I'm sure the dealership would tell him to pound sand.
And if you'd like to attribute the import and popularity of the WRX to something from pop culture it would be Gran Tourismo. The car wasn't even in a F&F movie until 2009, by that point the vehicle had been here for 7 years, and I had long since sold mine ;)

You're right about one thing though. You are proficient at losing.
