DRSafety,
How long have you had the Extang Solid Fold 2.0? I'm thinking of getting one.
Is the bed staying fairly dry with the snow and rain?
Thanks!
I have had mine for 7 months. I have had the same experience as Redland Ranger. A very small amount of leaking (the most comes after a trip through the car wash) in the front corners. I get mostly dust and need to invest in a tailgate seal.

Patched the soft cover with zipties as I save up for the hard one
That doesn't look too bad. Hopefully it gets you through until you get the one you want.

I am looking at the Extang Solid Fold 2.0 myself.

I am attracted by the fact that it has a “no rails” design.... Rails just look like trouble to me. Take up space... some have sharp edges . Feedback?

The dealer mentioned an issue with the design front of the Ranger box .. something about a 2” gap that you could see daylight through?

Can anyone explain.... maybe tell me how to address?

On the MX4 and most of the others a rail is supplied to fit at the front to close the gap. No big deal.

I got my Extang Solid Fold 2.0 installed Friday. There is a rail that mounts on the front of the bed using existing holes. There are also 2 brackets that mount on the side at the front for the attachment clamps. If you have a drop in liner like me, it will need trimmed. There is some daylight beside the rail at the front of the bed. When it warms up I'll get some weatherstripping and seal that up.

See the detailed install instructions in one of the reviews in this link.

And the wetness you see inside is from going through the carwash the day before. I expected that seeing the gap after the install. Looking at it overall, I expect the water getting inside to be much less after I get the front gaps sealed up.

Just came in the mail!! Did you have to take the bed liner out? If not how did you figure out where to drill the holes for the bulkhead rail?

I had it installed so not positive but it sure sounded like they took it out. The instructions I saw on Amazon called for it to be taken out and gives dimensions for the cuts and holes. The paperwork I received from the installer didn't have that included. See the review here: "I wanted to love it" by JFlo

I was planning to do it myself but for $30 it was worth having them do it since it took the experts an hour in a warm shop. I would have at least doubled that time and been working in the cold.

I have the Xtang Xceed cover.... Love it!
  • Virtually flush and seamless fit all the way around.
  • The finish matches the other black finish on the truck.
  • Super strong.... I've knelt on it. :whew:
  • EnduraCoat finish over the aluminum panels.
  • Secure rotary-release handle on rear panel.
  • Has not leaked at all (even with a power-wand spray wash)

Gator EFX hard tri-fold. $600 on Amazon today. Think got it for less prior to Christmas. Only opens up 2/3, but I think that is why it cost less.
