Did my update this afternoon Lariat no nav. Build date 6/2019. Update took less than 30 minutes. Checked (thanks to UofM engineer) the as built 7D0-04-01 was set to xxxx-xx0x-xxxx. No loss of climate controls. No issues. I like being able to see Sirius channel name artist and song on my right...
I was going to go over to a friends and test it on his trailer but didn’t have a chance to do it before I picked up my trailer. When I did hook it up it worked fine as Phil suggested. The Tester will hit the trash.
Thanks Phil. I quess the $7.00 - 7 way tester From Amazon was a bust :D. Just want to make sure the pickup goes smoothly. I have to admit my wife said without any knowledge of trailers and towing “I bet it will work fine when we connect it to a real trailer.”
Dave
Installed a P3 brake conroller To the 4 wires under the dash in anticipation of picking up a travel trailer this week. I used the OEM wiring harness to add the 7 way connector to the rear bumper. I wanted to test the installation an plugger in a 7 way tester. The Ranger recognized a trailer...
Thanks for the reply. I did wire the brake controller without disconnecting the battery. I did it one wire at a time. No other exposed wiring until the wires were connected and wrapped. I had no issues.
I have a Prodigy 3 brake controller installed to the 4 wires under the dash with full knowledge that the AEB won't activate the trailer brakes (no adaptive cruise control).
If I want to change the brake activation to the stop lights, I am curious how you hooked Ye/Gy wire under the dash -...
Rob, The chart I posted is from Worldometer.com that uses each state’s health department daily reporting as a source. Sorry I didn’t attribute.
And yes they are showing two different things. The CDCs chart is on the date of onset. The virus incubation period has been shown to be between 2-14...
Just to clear up a bit of misinformation. The Foward Collision Warning System will work and function fine with a third party brake controller installed. AEB will Also work for the Ranger. The problem is that when AEB is activated it won’t apply the trailer brakes if the brake pedal has not...
Yes it will work. I installed it on my Ranger. The issue it creates is not that AEB won’t function, it will for the Ranger, but that the trailer brakes only won’t activate if you fail to press the brake pedal during an event. The brake pedal not the the brake light activates the trailer...
No l was never able to get it to work. I haven’t tried it again nor did I reset sync. I have used maps through apple car play for navigation when I need it.
The weight of the weight distribution hitch counts against payload (please don't forget about payload) and not tongue weight.
However, the trailer is a lever and the wheels the fulcrum. Anything you add in front of the wheels in the trailer will add to the tongue weight. (clothes, food...
The yellow and white sticker on your truck is your payload that is the maximum you can load your truck regardless of published curb weight. It is based on your truck with options (not published curb weight) when it left the factory. For instance, my truck has a published curb weight of 4441 lbs...
Timothy, Yes that number would be ok for the GCWR. it is not that simple. You might be overloaded for payload and the Ranger GVWR. I encourage you to use the calculator I linked to provide you with a better estimate if weighing is not an option. Just some things to think about:
The dry...
Timothy,
Another weight capacity you need to consider is payload. Your payload capacity for your truck will be found on a yellow and white sticker on the inside of your door. You then need to subtract tongue weight from that number to find out what you have left for people, cargo and 100 lbs...
