just my view but i would try out what is being called bambi mode using the forescan setup ahead of changing bulbs. its inexpensive and really makes a nice difference when you are on a dark back road or in bad weather. also opens up other future fun mods free.
scan - not skin lol.
to be fair i recently swapped a set of led into the 4g. so far not really impressed. i was not looking for any certain look after ward. the original lenses where toasted and yellow so i bought new ones from someone on ebay that also gave me a discount on the led setup. free shipping. sucker for a sale. Auxbeam 1 to 1 or something like that. are they better - eh. for the cost i cant complain.

There's a huge thread on this on here. Many said they aren't designed to work in the halogen housings (which is true) an they won't work right. I put off doing it because of this.

I finally bought a set an popped them in. I raised the front of my truck with a level kit an lowed the aim an still got flashed occasionally with the halogens. I lowered them a little more, like 8 turns for the leds.

It's been a month or more with the LEDs an I haven't been flashed once. I got flashed with halogens so who knows. I did go with a set of 30 watt each bulbs not the 40 I see most bulbs are. I think this might help not overwhelm the the light pattern. I don't know but I know what's working for me. The beam is nice an focused on my garage door. My thought was they were cheap enough if I got flashed I'd toss them.

Just get a set of Diode Dynamic SS3 Fogs, they seem to throw more light than my Lariat headlights. I have the pro's in amber, but get the standard white and I suspect you'll be more than happy with the light output for the time being.

However if you're going for more of an aesthetic thing, then yeah what OFC said.
This.

The most effective lighting upgrade for those who have halogen headlamps would be an upgrade to good drop in pocket fogs from DD or BD.

A drop in LED bulb won't touch the amount, placement, and color of light a set of drop in LED fogs can provide.

If you're trying to supplement your headlamps BD's combo/driving lense is what you want, I'm sure DD has an equivalent.

I am gonna say yes, it's been a year since I replaced my xlt headlights with LED bulbs from Auxito, they light up really well.. Very much improved night time vision. There are no correct lumens but the correct beam pattern, which requires you to readjust your headlights after installing the LED bulbs as they do change your beam height. DRLs are not separate bulbs, they are integrated into the headlight assembly.

That's a lot of glare as low beam halogen bowls are meant to take less 900 lumens or less, again the engineers designed Halogen headlights for Halogen bulbs. What most people don't get is that excessive glare gives off a false illusion of having better vision at night. There is a reason most non projector LED headlamp units awfully suck that are OEM. Example the Mack Anthem.

This is the same “hybrid” setup that I have. Halogens in the lows and LEDs in my highs. Now to be fair I did swap out the oem halogens for the PIAA xTreme white halogens. They are marginally brighter than stock and won’t melt the faces of other drivers at night. I have the 16,000 lumen Auxitos in my highs…let me tell you, they are BRIGHT! They are wonderful to use on the dark country roads that I live on.

I did have LEDs in the low beams at one point, but I removed them for the sake of the other drivers on the road.

I ended up swapping my low beams to Hella YL Extreme yellow halogen bulbs. I am very happy with them. You never see people rolling old school like this so it is a unique touch. Makes depth and details very sharp on the road.

Swapped my high beams to Hella Optilux Xenon white halogens, which is more or less just to compliment my over head spot lights since they are triggered by high beams.

Only LEDs I am running are Amber Fogs which aren't excessively bright.

my headlights are the stock ones ?
I took a look at what i thought would have to me moved out of the way to change the bulbs and decided it was not worth the hassle while the factory ones were still working.

The only things that require being moved are the dust covers over each light. That’s it. From start to finish, removing the original bulbs and replacing them with new ones, should take less than 10 minutes for all four. I have never moved or removed anything (aside from the dust covers) from my truck to swap out the headlights. The video above where the guy removes the “snorkel” to replace the bulbs on the passenger side is unnecessary.

I have the factory led and dd3amber pro fogs and it is an awesome combination. I doubt I will ever buy another vehicle without led because how well they light up the road.
With the oem led fogs I left them on always. The dd3 fogs are bright! I only turn them on in inclement weather and dark wooded roads. Even properly adjusted they are bright and a bit much driving through the nieghborhood.
