Greetings all of you!

Joining the forum because I recently joined the 5th Generation group. my last vehicle was a 2003 Ranger EDGE I bought new that served me well for almost 22 years until she met her end because someone decided to turn in front of us, causing a total loss (thankfully, no injuries other than my broken heart).

Making the decision to get back into a Ranger was a no brainer. As fate would have it, I ended up with a 2020 XLT Supercrew 4x4 with 72000 miles on it. However, for good bad or otherwise, it is a RAV, so while it has a warranty that comes with it, I will have a cautious eye towards it (thought it got limoned over issues with SYNC). Still, I hope and pray this Ranger will serve me half as well as its predecessor did!

I pretty much do all the work on my cars that I can, but from appearances changing an alternator (or even the water pump) on my old 2003 was a much simpler task than what similar work would be on the 2.3 in my 2020.

I'll share pics soon, but first I need to put the running boards and tonneau cover on.

Welcome Eric - I came to my 2019 from a 2001 Ranger so I know all about the 4g love and how easy it is to stick with the model. I hope this truck works out well for you and gives you plenty of smiles per gallon.

I too came from a 4G Ranger (a 2005 - which was preceeded by a 2002 and a 2000 before that). I can't believe it, but in a little over a month I will have had my 5G for 6 years! It has served me well and done everything (and more) that I have asked of it. Welcome the site and welcome to the family!

I also went from a 4G to the 5G, and now I'm considering going to a hybrid Maverick now that it's available in AWD. I miss the smaller truck and all it's benefits, mainly the fuel economy. As much as as I love my 5G it's not really a Ranger, to me. But, it's almost paid for, so there's that to consider too.

If it keeps serving ne well it's a normal trainer to keep them. I bought my 1990 Ford Bronco when it was about a year old and had less than 17k on it. I kept it for 17 years and it only had 42k on it when I had to trade it in when gas prices hit $4+ a gallon. A 32 gallon tank at 10mpg was killing my driving it much. Had a take home car i could use so that kept my mileage down. I miss that truck it had a killer sound system and I built a custom console and had it covered to closely match the seats. Drove that thing all across the nation several times.

Welcome Eric (double checks name  ) I'm here from the VW world, still have one, but I also had a 2001 XLT Ranger that convinced me having a truck was beneficial, so when the trans started having issues, I shopped around, but no other truck checked all the boxes for me like Ford did so I got another Ranger....that also have...known trans...issues ?. I don't care, that what warranties are for, love my Ranger.

Well, here we go.

Now that the running boards and tonneau cover are on, Ghost is looking halfway decent. Still need to do the front grill letters (cardnial red will show out good against the grey) along with the tailgate. Gonna look to see if there's some tow hook covers in bright red as well:

Engine bay is tight but the 2.3 ecoboost is not a bad engine to work on. Not Lima easy like your used too. Just look past the maze of hoses and wires, still a basic 4 banger. Just lots of shit to move before you can work on it. Took me a bit to see the turbo, have to squint.

never had a 4g but lots of friends did growing up. Plenty of wrench time on them.
