Has anyone ditched the factory all-terrain Hankook LT265-65-17 tires that come as part of the FX4 package for a non-LT tire to try to achieve a less road noise, improved mileage, or overall better ride. If so, what did you end up with?

I purchased my 2019 Lariat at the beginning of 2020 and the only Lariat in the color/option combination I wanted also had the FX4 package. The most off road I'll be going is the 300 yards or so of gravel I need to drive on to get to my county's composting drop-off area, so another off-road/all-terrain tire is really not needed!

After about 1200 miles, I've decided I'm not a fan of the LT tires and looking for an all-season highway tire. The vehicle is a lease, so I don't want to get into another wheel size so I need to stick with the 265-65-17 size. The LT tires load rating are 109T, so I'm probably looking at a 112T passenger tire. Of course being in NE Ohio just outside the snow belt a tire with decent winter/snow performance would be desired.

Any suggestions or real-world experience from the collective?

Hands down the best tire for this usage by far is going to be the Michelin Defender LTX-MS. I changed out the Bridgestone Dueler HT my XLT came with to the Michelin Defender because I have run this tire on a couple of other trucks for a combined 375000 miles. All diesel 3/4 or 1 ton trucks. You will not find a better tire than this. I could tell the difference between the Bridgestone tires and the new Michelins immediately. I traded in the Bridgestones at the Discount Tire store for $300 so my total price was $802, and these tires will last probably 70k miles. I have a few sets of these tires that have easily gone near or over 70k miles per set.

Not everyone wants to run big AT or mud grip tires. For those who want to get the best fuel mileage possible, and the best-safest ride, you have to look into the Michelin Defender LTX-MS tires. I have driven thru torrential downpours, and the tires feel just like on dry pavement. I have read that they work fairly well in snow, but I live where it never snows (thank heavens) so can't really speak to that.

NE Ohio means you need more than an all season tire. Those rarely do well in snow.

No mid sized truck needs an LT tire. I agree with you there.

Cooper Discoverer AT3 will be worth looking at. Yes all terrain, but not overly aggressive and perform very well in the snow.

I love those tires on a truck. Will be switching to those once mine wear.

I live in the NE Ohio snow belt if you are wondering

On my '19 Lariat FX4, I received the non-LT version of the Hankook Dynapro ATM 112T tires. l think the LT version is Three Peaks rated and the non-LT version is not. Mine are pretty quiet.

I have seen some people post pic of the tire inflation sticker and some people did get the LT version and others did not. It might depend on the build date. My build date is late October.

As a point of reference, "LT" tires aren't std on an FX-4. If you have them, they were special ordered.

Yeah, I kind of wanted the LT tires (for the extra plies), but I would have had to get the sport appearance package and I didn't want to spend the extra $900 plus the $175 for the tires. They only come in the 17" size.
