  1. Fog light bulbs - how to access

I have a set of LED fogs in housings to replace the stock fogs, need to get around to doing that soon. If I come up some tips will pass along.
  2. A TURBO UPGRADE HAS ARRIVED!!!!!!

Nah I am a cyclist also and always look out for those guys. Plus I sized my turbos such that they could mostly clean up all the fuel I could throw at them. Could hit 60 psi in around a second; the turbine side of the secondary also allowed for negative drive pressure at 1800 and above rpm. One...
  3. ACTUAL Milage SUCKS

Hand calc between 15 to nearly 20, but it is always very windy here. I tend to have a fairly even mix of city / highway maybe more city, but I also like to get on it probably too much getting on the freeway, a lot of times have to get after it to keep from getting run over. Not really seeing the...
  4. Report your MPG

Hand calc 19 to 20 if I behave. Which is not usual unfortunately. Towed 4000 into a 40 mph head wind and maintained 80 mph for long stretches. Little bugger was screaming at 4500 to 5k rpm. Mileage dropped to 9 mpg. I wanted to get into that turbo and get it nice and toasty. I think I succeeded...
  5. A TURBO UPGRADE HAS ARRIVED!!!!!!

Slippery slope. Hard to stop once you get started, and finally a lot of money has been plowed into a project. And get absolutely nothing back out of it on sell or trade-in time. Better ask yourselves if it is worth it. Just a small part of what $65k put into a truck looks like.
  6. Largest tire on oem wheel with 3.5" lift

Are you also considering a gearing change to offset the effect of the bigger tires? Current drivetrain with 3.73 ratio and a 2.3 litre gasoline engine does not allow a lot of excess capacity for running substantially larger tires. Fuel mileage and towing performance may not be priorities for...
  7. Ranger less powerful than the competitors?

My little Ranger has adequate power for what I need to do so far. Admittedly not a diesel beast of a truck, and Ford does not present it that way. It is marketed as a personal use light duty vehicle, and it does that pretty well. I would say (personal opinion here) that if one really does need...
  8. Which fuel-efficient tires do you recommend?

Michelin Defenders LTX MS. Best tire made for street and highway usage IMHO. Can't go wrong with those.
  9. Am I Screwed? (Tow rating question.)

Yes I meant that i would not attempt to tow 7500 lbs with a Ranger. I used to tow my 32' fifth wheel that weighed around 8500 dry with my 2006 dodge cummins QCSB and that truck was a beast. On tow tune it was around 550 hp and a little over 1000 ft/lbs plus it had good brakes and a brake...
  10. Am I Screwed? (Tow rating question.)

EXACTLY CORRECT. The fact that ford does not include an integrated brake controller on the Ranger, and DOES include on the F250 / F350 / F450 speaks volumes. As to personal opinion, yes of course the afore-mentioned statement regarding COMMON-SENSE with regards to SAFE TOWING CAPABILITIES of any...
  11. Am I Screwed? (Tow rating question.)

I would not try to tow 5000 lbs with a Ranger if it did have the tow package. Mine does have it and I dont feel comfortable AT ALL towing 4000 with it. Great little trucks but just not enough truck and brakes to tow much over 3000. Just because Ford says you can does not mean you should.

  14. Matte Black or Anthracite?

Methods look better than both of those by far.
  15. Another Hypothetical 'Will it Tow' Question

Absolutely no way I would even begin to consider towing that trailer with a Ranger. That is just asking for trouble. Last weekend I towed my utility trailer which weighs 1k and had a 2000 lb. Load on the trailer of tools. 3k load total, and no huge vertical walls like on a travel trailer...
  16. How Many Have Saggy Leather Seats?

The Katzkin leather on my seats seems to be holding up nicely. Taut and clean. Love it! BTW my truck is a XLT. I do wish they would put the good headlights in all trim levels. That is a pure safety issue.
  17. rear differential fluid

Well do tell! Thanks very much!
  18. rear differential fluid

I don't have an owners manual in my truck I discovered. They did a dealer trade and I guess they forgot to put the owners manual in the glove box. So I need to get over to the stealership and get them to order me a manual. Thanks for posting up the fluid capacities.
  19. rear differential fluid

OK I may just leave it alone and drive it for 20k miles and then change it as part of the 4th oil change. Thanks guys.
  20. rear differential fluid

How much does a stock rear differential need to fill on a change? I did my first engine oil change and ended up using a little over 6 quarts. I will have to order or go buy local some rear diff fluid as I don't have any so wondering how much and will 75w-90 work OK? I have the electronic locking...
