Anyone picky about what brand of gasoline you use in your ranger? Had a 2011 Fiesta and always ran ARCO, but now I have my Ranger, all I’ve been putting is Chevron. Am I wrong for thinking this way? What brand do you use and why? Thanks for your input!!

There's hardly any gasoline retailer these days that isn't using top tier fuel. The difference is in the additives that a particular vendor mixes in to their fuel. In other words, the gas itself all comes from the same refineries in most cases. You just have to decide which addictive is best for you.

Run anything that’s top tier and premium and you’re golden. Don‘t worry about the rest, it’s b.s.

I use Shell 91 (Canada) religiously. Also for the Air Miles Points. I find the ratings are marginally better than Chevron. And i really just don't trust the other gas companies up here in Canada (Petro Can, Husky, Esso etc). Ive been putting Shell in my vehicles since I started driving over 10 years ago, now its just habitual.

I’ve been filling my truck with Costco 93 octane for the most part.
1. They’re one of the brands recognized by Top Tier
2. They’re typically the cheapest price in the local area
3. I haven’t had any issues with performance or fuel economy while running the Costco brand (average 23.8 MPG hand calculated over 9 fill ups thus far)

when I can’t get to a Costco, I look for Shell or Chevron.

Run 93 exclusively BP or Costco. I don't put many miles a year on (maybe 5000) so MPG and fuel costs are not important to me. If I was doing 15K a year I might have another answer LOL

CORRECT! Ive been employed by a major East cost refinery for over 20 years. Gasoline/diesel is a regional product. The only way your not getting high quality fuel. Is if you purchase at so fly by night stations. Usually foreign owned.

How to determine "top tier" ?
Somewhere in the neighborhood of the pump itself there will likely be an advertisement that the gas is "top tier". I buy mine from either Costco (nearly always) or QT (in a pinch), and am getting the better performance out of the 91 octane.
