Fuel octane for Tremor

I was always 93 Octane with my Unleashed tune now I’m only using the new 94 Octane Sunoco! But im lucky enough to have my employer pay for all of my fuel.

I was running 93 octane. When gas prices went crazy I started running 87. Have not noticed any difference.

FWIW, the manual for the Bronco list the power of the 2.3 as 275HP on 87 octane and 310HP on 93 octane.

The first thing I did to my Ranger was add the FP tune which requires 91 octane and I used 93 octane. Ran really well especially in the upper RPMs. When 93 went over $4.00 / gal I switched to an 87 octane performance tune. I really don't notice any less power up to 4500 rpm where I spend most of my time. I can't see myself going back to 93 even if the price drops below $4.00.

The real advantage of the 87 performance tune is the improvement of the transmission calibration.

Was using only 93 grade for about a year. Now that gas prices have gone up I'm mixing octane in the tank to run with the tune. Mix half a tank with 89 grade and other half gets 93 grade. That brings it to 91 grade average in tank and saves 3 or 4 bucks per refill

With my truck I noticed it preferred 91 over 87. When I took a trip to Michigan I noticed the truck really liked 93 vs 91. It was nice for the week I was there but had to go back to the Rockies

I'm running 87 in mine, but I don't tow (manual says use premium for towing). I've not had any reason to put premium in mine, plus unless it can get me a significant bump in economy its not worth the money for me. I will tune it eventually, but in the meantime 87 is just fine.

Everybody needs one. It's a crank case inspection port. How else are you going to know if the crankshaft is cranking correctly?

That was poor wording in my post. I spend most of my time below 4500 rpm. I seldom rev the engine past 4500 rpm and it is only when I feel racy that it will ever get to redline.

When I want to scare women, make small children cry and fill the street with tire smoke I drive my Barracuda.

Does everyone use 91 octane?

I run 89 or E15 88 when I can get it since it’s cheaper. Gas mileage is slightly better with 89 over 87 so in the end it doesn’t cost any more. Saw no difference in running 93 over 89.
