So I have a 2019 Ford Ranger XLT it’s got 9200 miles on the clock and the average fuel economy has been pretty good except for the last couple days when I look at it it’s telling me I’m getting 36 miles per gallon and sometimes 42 which I know is incorrect. I’m checking to see if there’s an electronic problem or if this is something that can be reset or corrected

It does sound wonky. Wait until you refuel and then hand calculate and compare. Is this happening in both trip settings?

Maybe somehow it's reading kilometers per gallon ? Your numbers would equate to 19-25 mpg in miles per gallon.....
I don't know what types of info can be changed on the Sport, but on my Lariat under veh info and changes that can be made, you can change from mph to kph and mileage will change to coincide with kp.

Did not change anything at all all I do is keep it on average miles per gallon. It used to read pretty accurate what I did was I disconnected the battery and let it sit 15 minutes and I reconnected the battery. I will drive it a little bit and see what it comes up with now.
It always seemed like it was pretty close to what I expected in mileage depending how heavy I was on the pedal I could see a change. I will drive it a couple days and see if it changes but when it started reading 36 miles per gallon I knew I had a problem

Sounds like it could just be a glitch or possibly a faulty sensor somewhere? My wife’s ‘19 ranger was doing the same thing when we bought it used with 30k miles. Hers was saying she was getting 60mpg lol. We had the dealership look at it, they reset or updated something (I’m not a techy guy so idk what they did) and it’s been fine since then.

Sometimes the truck’s computer just needs to relearn-try resetting the average MPG on the dash (hold down the button) and drive a tank or two. It should settle back to real numbers

Top it off, fill it ... and maybe after one tank it will reset or recalculate?
