Has anyone else installed the Fox 2.5 rear piggyback shocks? I am aware that the shock orientation does not matter as far as performance and function. I like to run my rear shocks with the shafts down and the bodies up for all the typical reasons. In the brief install instructions from Fox they show the bodies up.

However, on the passengers side shock the valve cap on the resi is extremely close to hitting the frame cross member. I jacked the passenger side up until the tire was in the air a couple inches and the clearance between the cap and frame tightened up to the point that I could hardly slide a thin piece of cardboard in the gap (as the axle droops down the shock rotates more vertical along the travel path and tightens the gap). My concern is that under specific conditions off roading at full articulation the cap may actually contact the frame.

I noticed in their install video Stage 3 has the bodies down/shafts up and wonder if this is why......I will probably go flip them around but was wondering if anyone else running these shocks noticed this issue.

Thanks

On cycle down, is the reservoir going to impact the mount? It looks like you might need to flip it around so the reservoir is on the other side at least.

If I flip the resi around then it will be on the axle side and hit the axle tube under compression. I am still not sure if the axle can droop enough to cause the shock to rotate to the point where the valve cap hits but to be safe it seems the best option is to run the body down and shaft up unfortunately.

I'd call Fox and see what they say, I doubt they would design something like that on purpose.

I would think you would want the adjustment cap down so it’s easy to adjust on the fly without completely crawling underneath to get at it in the top position.

Yep that is how it is now and one of the several reasons I want the shock bodies on top. It is the valve for charging thew shock that is in question the adjustment knobs are facing down.

What did you end up doing with this? I'm at the same point in my install and the cap is super close to the frame. Contemplating if I should mount the shocks the other way.

It seems it should only be close to contacting at full droop, and the parts seem to say they can take 0-1.5" lift, but the proximity of that part has me a little worried.

I left mine with the shock bodies up and have checked a few times after some moderate off roading and so far there has been no contact with the cross member. I am still considering the OME or new icon rear leafs with 1-2 lift and will have to re evaluate at Install.

Awesome! Glad to hear it, I ended up mounting the body up too. So glad to hear it holds up off road so far. I'll keep and eye on it just in case.

Have you found any good damping settings you liked yet? So far I started at 3 clicks in for high and low speed. It feels like it could use a little more damping, but I also still have the stock coilovers up front since I haven't gotten the fox fronts shipped yet.

Mine are custom tuned with more aggressive damping and I run them about mid range on the adjustment knob. Thats with a little weight in the bed though maybe 200 lbs. I think you would enjoy adding a few more clicks.

Do you have the aluminum or cast steel knuckles? I still haven't installed my fronts yet because of the limited options for UCA's. I can't wait to get the fronts on as the factory shocks have prevented me from really being able to let the rears stretch their legs yet. I'm also pretty intent on replacing the rear leaf springs but will see how the truck handles with the 2.5s on all corners.

Gotcha, I'll have to play with the settings a little more, but so far it's definitely much improved over stock even at the current setting.

I have the aluminum knuckles. I'm planning on just running the stock upper control arms for now, but eventually ill get something that can handle a little more articulation up front too. I'm definitely anxious to get the fronts in too, took a trip out to the desert and was dragging my skid plate through sand and rocks way too much, the front rake on these trucks stock is super aggressive.

I have icon rear leaf springs and as u can see in the pic it hits, fox says u can loose the jam nut and rotate just the resi 90 degrees towards the exhaust and now it's free. Also what settings r u running on adjustments?

Unfortunately took a look at my rear 2.5's and found the reservoir adjustment knob slammed down on the axle hard enough to bend it. Now i can't adjust the low speed setting but the high speed still clicks. Think this might be an expensive fix? Gotta reach out to Fox to see what to do. Not sure when it happened but definitely a bummer.

Remember that time you bolted your aftermarket shock in backwards and it got damaged because it hit the axle? ....

I do...

Shame... shame... shame...
