Interesting reading, it probably doesn't recognize our passing/no passing signs. Would be cool if it could though. Of course I haven't been on roads with those signs to verify. It does recognize our speed limit signs just fine.I found this link from the AU Ranger. Looks like some models can show two traffic signs like you suspected.
It does misread or not see signs sometimes. I tested it for about an hour yesterday and it had hits and misses. One big miss is it saw a small rt number sign and thought it was a speed limit sign. It was indicating 55 then saw the sign for rt 40 and it changed to 40 and blinked because I was way past 40. So meh, it's ok. Doesn't bother me. I still feel if you have nav, the speed signs on there never been wrong.Interesting reading, it probably doesn't recognize our passing/no passing signs. Would be cool if it could though. Why would you want to do this? Just curious. I get an insurance discount for having DRL on my vehicles.Anyone know how to turn off DRL on a US truck?
I have LEDs in mine also, but I only run my parking and fogs as DRL. Not my low beams, haven't been flashed yet.I have LEDs on my Ranger and get flashed with them. I even reaimed them down, no difference.
I made this mod following your instructions. I must have did something wrong because my front facing camera went offline and Cruise Control stopped working, and my pre-collision warning stopped working. I thought that I would have to pay big bucks to get it back to factory defaults, but was able to use Forscan to set back to factory build. I tried it again, and it worked like a charm. My only complaint so far is that the chime warning is barely audible. But good mod as the wife always complains that I speed too much. Here's the modules that need changed in order to get the full Speed Limit Sign reading to work:
IPC > Traffic Sign Recognition = Enabled
IPMA > Traffic Sign Recognition = Speed Limit Information Function (SLIF) AND Traffic Sign Recognition Mode = Camera Only On (other modes cause errors).
This all add the options that need to be enabled in the dash menu:
Driver Assist > Traffic Signs > Always On (It will show up in the area highlighted when it detects a speed limit sign. It will time go blank when you slow down and stop/turn a corner of speed up a lot).
This is really a fun little kick-ass feature. I doubt it's fool proof so I won't 'rely' on it but I will use it. Thanks!Got the speed limit sign reading to work!! Real time camera reading not map based either.
Funny, I did a bunch of driving yesterday and watched it close. Never had a mis-read. Maybe the route signs in Tennessee look closer to speed signs than in Wisconsin. and our county roads are also lettered not numbered. State roads are numbered and it didn't pick them up.It does misread or not see signs sometimes. I tested it for about an hour yesterday and it had hits and misses. No biggy.... designed for Europe anywho...Funny, I did a bunch of driving yesterday and watched it close. Never had a mis-read. One other note, all the pictures I see of the lariat dash only show a spot for the speed limit while the XLT dash has the second spot for the passing signs. Maybe the put is somewhere else (right display) or don't show it.
Granted, Just one of the quirky things those of us with too much time on our hands during quarantine find and just need to see what it does. Sort of like finding the Easter Egg in a computer program. No biggy.... designed for Europe anywho...
