Ford Tie Down Hook -Talk about price gouging....

So the bag of bolts I ordered from Amazon arrived yesterday. I gleefully went out and began screwing one in, tightening it with a screwdriver through the eye.

It broke.

How the heck do I get that bolt out now??

As a follow up, I bought a Tap and Die set on sale and cleaned out the bottom holes. The eye bolts screwed in real nice afterwards and I have one of my milk cartons in place now. I still have to take the time to drill out the broken bolt. Vice grips can't get it done.

Holy crap, there is a discussion in another thread regarding dealer price gouging MSRP with ADM's on new Rangers, Broncos, etc...., well how about Ford gouging owners on parts like tie down hooks...

$47.00 ($31.00 US?) for a bent piece of metal with 2 holes in it....sheesh. ...and that's WITH a discount!!

I found a thread on another forum from back in 2019 when it was only $6.49 (US)......

Me thinks a visit to a auto salvage yard is in order.

Those could be made very easily. Make your own.

The often discussed poorly engineered bed rake is exacerbated by the missing tie-downs, just sayin'.
