Holy crap, there is a discussion in another thread regarding dealer price gouging MSRP with ADM's on new Rangers, Broncos, etc...., well how about Ford gouging owners on parts like tie down hooks...

$47.00 ($31.00 US?) for a bent piece of metal with 2 holes in it....sheesh. :surprised:...and that's WITH a discount!!

KB3Z-21550A74-A - Tie Down Hook - 2019-2023 Ford Ranger | Eastgate Ford Parts CA (eastgatefordpartscanada.ca)

I found a thread on another forum from back in 2019 when it was only $6.49 (US)......

"Tie Down Hook - Ford (KB3Z-21550A74-A) $6.49 ea, Quan. (2) = $12.98
Tie Down Hook Bolt - Ford (-W505594-S450B) $3.90 ea, Quan. (4) = $15.60"

Me thinks a visit to a auto salvage yard is in order.

I've used the same amazon tie downs and they work great. Usually using a combination of ratchet straps and bungee web.

I looked at the dealer for those too and decided against it. I've ranted about the disgusting pricing many times. The bolts are just as ridiculous. Last I checked the bolts were about $9 each. It was $165CDN for 2 tie downs and 4 bolts from the dealer, for what is likely less than $5 cost to manufacture and distribute.

Thats Crazy. I didn't even bother to add up the total cost of 2 hooks and 4 screws.. That price is just Ludacris! ( and i don't mean the Rapper..lol)

Do those screw into any oem threaded holes in the bed?
They fit in any holes that the tie downs would attach to. That's the holes in the front of the bed (including the 2 above the existing tie down locations). They also fit in the threaded holes in the center of the bed sides and the tie down attachment points near the tailgate. They DO NOT fit in the three holes (per side) between the rear tie down area and the tailgate. They are M6 threads.

I always laugh when people use the term price gouging improperly. Its same thing on 6G forums with new Raptor.

A product being perceived as a "rip-off" is not the same as price gouging.

If I choose to sell my 2019 Ranger for $80,000 I am not price gouging anyone, I just have a retarded sense of what my vehicle is worth.

Haha. Too funny that you say that cause I agreed with you when you said that in the other thread and I agree with you now. Yet I still used the term “gauging”

your right , its not gauging, its a blatant RIPOFF 100%.

So the way I rate things;

The Roush package for the current ranger is a rip-off - this is determined by a few factors, but the single one being that a $450 tuner will make the truck out perform that entire package by a landslide. The second being if you took dollar for dollar and even used a shop to install your own selected parts, you would end up with so much more for your money its not comparable on any scale.

Being a rip-off is a individual wallet threshold meter.

Pricing gouging is generally influenced by environmental factors and human life.

It is that simple.
