Ford Protect vs.....

So I'm thinking about an extended warranty and checked into Granger Ford's deal for Ford Protect. Seems pretty good. I also checked with Endurance because they get good ratings. The price difference for pretty much the same coverage is huge: $1900 from Granger vs over $5000 from Endurance.

I know Endurance offers lots of little extras and allows you take take your vehicle to any repair shop, but is it that much better than the Ford plan? Has anyone who has used Protect had any problem getting their vehicle fixed? Are there hidden fees with Ford's plan? Any info on this sure would be appreciated.

Are you seriously considering a $5000 warranty when you can get the manufacturers warranty for $1900?

If you want an extended warranty for your Ranger do yourself a favor and get the Ford ESP Warranty. It will provide the best coverage available

I was a dealership tech in a BMW/Audi/Porsche shop. Customers will h aftermarket extended warrantees were universally ignored and underserved. People with factory extended warrantees were universally taken well care of. Aftermarket warranty providers are complete crap. We can’t collect and you will hate them eventually. You pays your monies and makes your choice.

I received an email from Ford yesterday announcing their new Ford Protect Continued Service Plan (CSP). My 2019 Rangers 3/36 warranty ended this past November.

When I purchased the Ranger the dealer offered this Zurich extended warranty which I have not needed to use yet but the more research I've done on it the more disillusioned I have became with it.

The CSP email has given me an extended warranty as good as the original Ford Protect warranty which I passed on taking before 3/36 ran out.

I opted for the coverage level EXP ULTIMATE with a $250 deductible. Florida cost $524 annually. North Carolina cost would have been considerably cheaper but you must take the plan where your vehicle is registered.

I will pursue getting a refund on that Zurich Insurance from my selling dealer.

Just to confirm, you got the Ford CSP AFTER your 3/36 ran out? What are your CSP terms (years/miles)? Anything not covered that's been a sore point for these Rangers (trans/HVAC blend door, etc)? How does the price compare to the regular extended warranty?

Silk -- I opted to pay $500 annually for 3 years. Then renew again up to 16 years or 160 thousand miles total. I do know plans, this one & the Ford Protect plans vary in cost in different states. We summer in NC & this plan there was far cheaper there vs FL but plan cost is determined by state where vehicle is registered.

Plan coverage is same as Ford Protect & I opted for $250 deductible.

Thanks. I've got an oil change in two days so I'm going to chat with my dealer about my options. I read somewhere that essentially they could perform the multipoint check that they would do to "certify" a vehicle as a CPO and offer me the EPS coverage. If that's not correct, I'll ask them about the CPS coverage and see what I can get in PA.

I can tell you for a fact that Ford ESP is going to be your best bet without a doubt, but I am slightly biased as I work for them.

Is what I read true? Can my 2019 w/ 39k miles be "certified" to qualify for the ESP? Or is my only option going to be the CSP?

I’ve had Endurance before. They deny every claim if it falls in their “wear and tear”, “corrosion,” or “pre-existing condition” clauses.

For example: Window won’t roll down, but the regulator is still intact. They say it’s “worn out” but if the regulator is broken in pieces they will cover it. Replace regulator on my own dime and then it works.

Then alternator goes out. They say “it’s still charging to 11V but if it’s fallen off the map and blown out” it’s covered. Since it’s still charging a little it’s just “worn out”. WTF.

Never seen anything like this but basically all items that were covered got denied. Even a power door lock regulator. It was also “worn out” but since it’s still there in one piece, not covered. Replaced that on my own dime too and guess what? It also fixed the problem.

YES however it will cost to have the inspection preformed and anything that is found to be wrong must be repaired before hand.
