It may be a little different with the other cover. Also with the 20° extra you will probably be close to 29 ft lbs of torque

The extra 20 degrees would have to double the 14.75 ft/lbs if that were the case. He snapped a bolt, so that 29.5 ft/lbs has to be a mistake.

You would be surprised at how much force you put on bolts and nuts when doing the angle steps. Some of the new digital torque wrenches are kind enough to show you how much extra torque is being applied while adding the angle torque. 20° doesn't sound like much, but at that low of a torque, it can make a difference.

I'll have to check the manual. No fluid service for rear diff for 150k miles....that must be general road use not severe or offroad use.
But still seems a bit too long to not service or at least check "level"

My last few Ford trucks I changed the axles and t-case every 30k and the first change they drained out like tar. By the third change at 90k they drained out clean. On the Ranger I changed them at 30k, then pretty soon when it hits 90k, and 150k if I have it that long.
Break-in leaves the most metal behind.

FYI the Bronco cover fits non Tremor models easily and has a drain plug. It can be made to work on a Tremor with some effort.

The model originally discussed here never had a plug and is therefore not a viable option if making the choice today, in my opinion.

Yes Ford really piss me off when they do things like this just to save a few cents. You can argue
(and I'm sure they do) that the factory recommended change interval is 240,000 Km (which is way to long in my opinion, mine came out dark and dirty at 100,000 Km) and that therefore some owners like a leasee may never have to do it. But, one deep water crossing and your oil gets contaminated.
Then what should be a simple 10 minute operation you could potentially do in camp, or even by the track becomes a mission, involving gaskets, silicone sealer and multiple tools. Or you let the water sit in there and destroy your diff.

Not good enough for a vehicle marketed as off road.

Sorry to raise the dead here, but you, JimG_AZ, subquark and others bought the Ford cover and I need to know if the surface rusted on you, as several reviews on Fordperformanceparts.com have claimed. I would order it today if not for claims the powder coat failed.

Here's a pic of mine. It has been on for about two years 20ish thousand miles. I am in the salt belt and it does get driven year round. Frequent car wash underbody washes in the winter. Would not recommend it.

The Ford Performance cover on my truck still looks really good. But, I’m in Arizona and we do not have a Rust problem here.
