You probably will be able to trade that on a new Bronco ebike in the next clunkers to EVs program the government sponsors ?.

There is no way they will allow a $10k new vehicle of any kind here mark my words. The push is to make them more expensive, go into more debt for them or to just give up and live in your pod and 15 minute city. A small lightweight EV might actually not be too bad but it was never about the environment and they prove it by not letting people have them.
I don’t think it is possible to make a 10k car that meets all the ridiculous regulatory requirements of the USSA…

Socialized medicine is awesome - you don’t know what you’re missing.

I had a 93 Festiva 5-spd commuter in 2005 and it saved me SO MUCH MONEY! I cracked 50mpg more than once on my 50mile each way commute to work (LA County to Riverside). Driving it hard 38-42mpg was easy. The thing was less than 2000lbs. Shoot, even jumped it once over some train tracks lol

They should make special exceptions to allow vehicles like that to be made again and ditch the electric idea for now. Maybe put a cage in it so an EV or Super Duty doesn't drive through it and call it a day.

Sadly I think we're going to find out soon enough! :lipssealed::mad:
You kind of already have it - Medicare, Medicaid, the VA. I’m not saying that’s working out for you folks, just saying you already have a model. Frankly, I don’t think it could be scaled up to serve 350 million people in 50 states and a handful of territories.

Well common sense says it can't be scaled to serve 350 million. But we all know who's making these rules and the lack of common sense all of them have!

I know, right? First, there’s probably not enough booze and then you gotta figure out what to do with all the empties. ?‍♂

I remember when Porsche was doing this back in the 1990s. Someone else was doing it with Trek Y-Bikes, and there were others. Like you said, most had a lousy build spec and were over-priced.

I was working in the mountain bike industry at the time and we had a great relationship with Ellsworth Handcrafted Bicycles. They entered into a promotion with Mazda to provide 200+ Ellsworth Sub 22 hardtails to plunk on the roofs of cars in their U.S. dealer showrooms - they were a prize. Our company was tasked with providing the components, assembly and logistics. To keep the cost per bike as low as possible, the build spec was “Costco bike” grade.

It was a crying shame to put such low-end components on such a high-end, handmade frame. Of course, we kept a handful of frames for ourselves - strictly for “QA Testing”.
Oh lort, Ellsworth. Talk about a name that carries a ton of baggage. Tony E. is certifiable. Got himself banned from several internet forums 20 yrs ago or more now for attacking people online who had cracked frames, as well as denying warranty coverage to them. You won't find the actual events, even on the wayback machine, because he was so aggressive with people that his posts were all deleted right after he made them. His company pretty much entered a death spiral about that time, too. Connected? Hmmmm

I remember when Ford offered a package with the Focus and a Kona mountain bike. It actually wasn't all that ridiculous of a deal. The bike was an entry-level-ish hardtail that didn't pretend to be anything else. No Ford branding on the bike itself. Gotta give them props for that.

It was a little more than twenty years. I have intimate knowledge of the problem and was likely the first person to bring it up. It happened to one of our ”test bikes”. Tony replaced it without any questions but we were business associates, so of course he did. He also provided a handful of frames for our XC racing team. The same thing happened to one of our riders while we were out for a training ride. Tony was fine about it and offered up a new frame - likely because I was on that ride and could attest as to how it happened. We opted for a lightweight sample frame we had in stock from a trade show in Taiwan, painted it Ellsworth blue, had some matte silver Ellsworth down tube and top tube decals made, built it up, and never mentioned it to Tony.

Two of our employees cracked Truth full-suspension frames but one guy was rough on everything he rode and the other was a really big boy. For the Sub22 frame, it was limited to larger sizes. Mine was just fine…

I thought EV's caught fire all the time, so why would you need a heater?

I'm sure this will cause a meltdown here, pun intended, but our Model Y heats up much quicker than our Ranger in the Winter. :)
