Ford Fox vs. Roush Shocks

Other than price is there a difference between the shocks and leveling sold by Ford Performance and Roush?

The two differences you will see between the two are shock calving and spring rates. It will be marginal but differnt enough.

Could you say which one will be better for the normal pavement driver? Im tired of getting bounced around when going over speed bumps and dips.

I honestly couldnt tell you which one is better. I personally run the Old Man EMU and I love it. The on road and off road capabilities have improved greatly from them.

Now i should mention plenty of members here have swapped out just the rear shocks for Fox and have taken care of most bouncing.

Tell me more about members only putting new shocks on the rear of their vehicles. Who has done that?

I wonder if there be any benefit—or detriment—to getting 2.5” reservoir shocks in the rear, while having stock FX4 shocks Or 2.0” aftermarket shocks in the front.

I cant name the member right off but some of them might show up here. If you are going to keep the factory front shocks then I would only go with 2.0's. You can still get the full kit and just lower the fronts all the way down to no lift and have a similr result I would believe.

Just putting some DuraTrac tires on mine changed the ride completely. It’s not level of course, but it corners better and doesn’t feel like it’s hydroplaning when I hit the ruts of water on the road that is Boulder, CO. Doesn’t bounce as much either.

With wanting to level the truck are you planning on towing at all? If so keep in mind that when loading the rear down on a leveled truck the lights usually dont like to touch the road anymore. Just some food for thought.

I had similar goals. Leveled, improved handling, and improved ride.

I do not have an answer for the differences. Can only offer my experience.

Prior to delivery, I had my dealer install the Ford/Fox 2.0 Leveling Kit and slightly larger tires (Toyo Open Country AT3 LT265/70 R17). Very happy with improvements to handling and ride. Drives and rides like a different truck.

I too went with the Ford performance Fox 2.0 kit and think they are fantastic.

IMHO I think the 2 most inexpensive and worth doing options now are the Bilstein 5100s or the Eibach and reusing your springs since you mention nothing too crazy. I understand that the Bilstein were just released so there is almost no feedback yet but I've never seen Bilstein screw the pooch.

If I dont use a Ford product will that void my warranty? Im new to the truck world so not sure about this stuff.

Unless they can prove your suspension kit of choice was the cause of the failure you are good to go, it doesn't apply to non related stuff at all, say your motor drops a valve, they wouldn't even think of mentioning your suspension. Goggle the Moss Magnuson Act if that is confusing at all.

Ford only applies the warranty to their " kit " if you have an authorised shop instal it. If not the warranty reverts back to Fox for the kit.
