Actually pretty average towing MPG for our trucks. Not sure why you are talking about?
Because he said this:
"Close to 14 mpg is rare and happens when on level streets, no wind and 50-55 mph. Interstate at 65 mpg is usually 12mpg. With wind and hills, it will be closer 10 mph. This is all with whatever premium gas is available (91 in CA, 92 in OR/WA, 93 other areas)."

I didn't understand him to be saying he towed something all the time. This part seemed to me to be about just normal daily driving. If I'm mistaken, so be it but it would be up to the OP to correct me, wouldn't it?

Nope. My MPG reply, which you quoted, was in response to someone asking about towing MPG with a 4,500 lbs trailer. My normal milage (non-Tremor, slightly lifted w/ Fox 20s) is 22 MPG.

I'm at 67,000 miles... and I average between 20-22mpg calculated at the pump. Mostly highway driving at 75mph but I do occasionally mash the skinny pedal. I will be changing out the General grabbers for a less aggressive tire soon, hopefully that results in a little better economy.

I really have to laugh everytime I see a mileage thread show up. Nobody can compare the mileage they get to anyone else. Too many variables.

Suffice it to say anything you add/change on your truck will change it, for the better or most likely the worse. A lift/level, a rack, a RTT, bigger tires, wheel spacers, anything that sticks out into or disrupts the air flow around the truck. And towing a box behind you just multiplies that effect

Also like I assume most trucks speed is a huge factor. It seems to be exponential beyond a certain point. It seems our trucks have a sweet spot around 55-60 mph. Anything over that and mileage takes a hit. 70+ and it more like a nose dive.

People will give you all kinds of great numbers for short trips. Only thing that really means anything is long term averages over multiple tanks of gas and multiple conditions.

First gear is different. Look it up.
I have tried and can find no mention anywhere of the Ranger Tremor having a different 1st gear ratio in the transmission. What is your source?

Our APG / ex tremor ranger gets about 16.5 right now. Before the APG kit and the 35 inch tires we were getting 17-18.

My drive is 100% city so it depends a lot on lights etc. Just giving a general ball park for your research.

I am going to look at a used on next week. While looking it up, it says the MPG is 19/19/19. How can that be? I understand it will get a little less die to the added wright, increase lift and large tires but to get 19 city and 19 highway is confusing. Any real world experience with Tremor MPG?
I installed the performance package and put a topper on it. Before adding those two things I was averaging 16.8. Now I'm averaging 19.7. Go figure. I was expecting it to lower with the performance Pack.

My mileage is overwhelmingly in town.

I tow a 4,000 lbs empty, 5,000 GVWR 20' long 7.5' wide travel trailer with my 2021 FX4 with Fox 2.0 shocks. My MPG all around the west US is 10-14 mpg. This is with the stock Hankooks or my Nokian winter tires.

Close to 14 mpg is rare and happens when on level streets, no wind and 50-55 mph. Interstate at 65 mpg is usually 12mpg. With wind and hills, it will be closer 10 mph. This is all with whatever premium gas is available (91 in CA, 92 in OR/WA, 93 other areas).
I still have the Hankooks on my 21' FX4 with Fox 2.0 as well. Also have a set of Hakkapelitta's for winter. I can average about 22 - 25 mpg in the summer. Around 21-23 in the winter.

Do you get decent mileage when you aren't towing?

My mileage is very similar to yours. I also have Nokian winter tires.

As others have mentioned, MPG is extremely variable based on driving style, type of commute, distance driven, elevation change, etc. This is especially true with any turbo engine.

The easiest way to get an idea of what type of mileage you'll see is to compare it to past vehicles. If you meet / exceed EPA ratings with what you're driving now, that will likely continue with the Ranger. The opposite is also true.

My experience with my past several vehicles has been MPG at or slightly above the highway rating for most of my driving, with lifetime MPG somewhere between the combined & highway number. However, I mostly drive in "ideal" conditions. The majority of miles are from 45-55 MPH back roads on trips >20 miles.

Granted, I don't have experience with a Tremor, but have put 31,000 miles on a stock 2020 FX4. With light loads / unloaded, I see 25-27 MPG (hand calculated) in the summer and 22-25 MPG in the winter. The best tank I've calculated was 29.1 MPG but I was pretty conscious of how I was driving for the ~400 miles on that tank. Towing / off-roading with lots of 4x4 use, I've had a few tanks in the teens. I haven't calculated the lifetime average, but would guess it's 24-25 MPG.

FWIW, I definitely don't hypermile or do anything crazy, just (usually) drive the speed limit and stay out of boost. Also, this is all with 87 octane (except a handful of tanks when towing).

The truck can haul like a sports car and get sports car MPG while doing it. Or, if you drive like a Prius owner, you can get pretty darn good mileage. I've been extremely impressed with the MPG on the Ranger and it definitely "over performs" more than most vehicles I've driven.

Like Stufus said above, their are so many factors that come into play. Here's my experience with my typical use which is: 10% in-town driving, 80% state/county/US highway, 10% interstate. Mostly Stock '22 XLT tremor, with MBRP exhaust, Velossatech big mouth, truxedo soft bed cover.
87 octane: 19 city/ 22-23 hwy.
91 octane: 20 city/ 24-25 hwy.

I don't granny drive by any means, but I do keep an eye on rpms, and try to get up to speed quickly then back off, which stays out of boost.
