For those of you with a matching full size spare…

I’m looking to pick up a RIGd UltraSwing Hitch Carrier and have a couple of question for those of you carrying a matching full size spare…

First, do you rotate your spare with your other wheels?

Second, if you do, do you run a 5th TPMS sensor?

That Ultra Swing Hitch Carrier looks great. Assuming that it blocks the Back Up Camera?

We had larger LT tires installed by our dealer prior to delivery. Later, we built up a matching spare wheel & tire now mounted in the stock location. Spare has a new 5th TPMS.

Will do 5-wheel rotation next time.

How does the computer deal with 5 TPMS? Does it just forget the one not in use?

It does not see the sensor in the spare carrier. It looks at each wheel position, and finds whatever sensor is in that position. You can watch the dash display update in real time as it discovers the sensors and updates.

I have 6 summer tires on after market rims, and 4 winter tires on factory rims. All 10 have TPMS and the truck senses which wheels are on after a few miles of driving, while ignoring the rest, even when they are in the box of the truck.

I have a full-size spare which is black steel and which has the same tire and is the same size (265/70/17) as the 4 on the ground. I do not rotate it and not sure if it has a TPMS as the ground tires do (haven't needed to use it). Bought the set from another Ranger owner with 3k miles on them.

I wanna put a matching spare wheel/tire in my bed, but it needs to be under the top rails. I'll never carry much in this truck, LOL!

Unfortunately, it does. They offer a relocation kit, but I don’t think I’ll install it seeing as how I won’t be running the Ultra Swing full time.
