Well, if it works, it's an interesting experiment. I really don't want to tune a brand new truck and void my warranty. If I do, I'll be getting the Ford Performance tune...backed by Ford. Although, I was just reading about the towing BS. That sucks, because one of the reasons I went with the Ranger over the cheaper (and better gas mileage) Maverick was the towing capability.

Also TIL, based on OPs link, that a 1.0L ecoboost exists thats the footprint of A4 paper. Freaking impressive.

Not necessarily about our trucks, but Gale Banks has done tests over in the Diesel world about add-ons that fool various sensors in an attempt to add fuel, boost, or both. Generally, it doesn't work as well as you'd think as you start running into hard-coded protections in the ECU.

Yes, I realize this is about diesel engines....but when you start messing around with one sensor only, you're asking for trouble. Even with wideband AFM sensors and the like controlling things, just upping the boost might not hurt things in the short term, but I'd be wary long-term.

Piggyback tunes are pretty popular in the BMW world and from what I have read, they appear to be pretty safe. But I’m guessing this could still void your warranty and any fuel savings will be marginal. The only warranty safe tune you have is with Ford.

After today, I can confirm that it doesn't work with the boost sensors on our Rangers. I pulled the top shroud off the front of the engine bay today and the connector for the boost sensor on the intercooler piping is completely different.

Most likely speaking of how the Ford Performance tune did not support towing at first but most of us already know of the update that fixed that

Ok was unaware of update. Dealer installed tune Sept 2021 and maybe update was already applied but will try to confirm
