Unfortunately, @AzScorpion and his tiny, but mighty, bolt cutters liberated my wallet and spent it all on dampers and graphene!![]()
I will be disappointed if he doesn't have a chain drive wallet
Only a bit is snow experience with the Generals on my Tremor. Seemed pretty good. As to off road tires and snow, back when I had my Frontier NISMO (commonly referred to as the POS) I replaced a K02’s with a set of Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. We lived in the mountains of NC at the time. Lot of snow. Fair amount of ice. To this day I still remember how stunned I was at those tires and their snow, and ice, ability.I have lived in New England my entire life and got my first pickup in the late 70s and have had one ever since. My experience is that all terrain tires don't work as well as all season tires in the snow. The General Grabber ATx tires that came on my Tremor were the first all terrain tires I have had that has been good enough that I didn't feel the need to swap to dedicated winter tires.
FYI, if you look at AT tires on the Tire Rack site you will notice that they have the all terrain tires categorized as Street/All Terrain or Off Road/All Terrain. The difference in appearance is how aggressive the tread is.Yeah, you look at the tread on mine and the lugs are laid out differently than those on a street tire, but the depth isn't much different. They're quiet on the highway but not very aggressive for off-road usage. Maybe should call them most-(but not all) terrain tires.
I have the AT3W and do great in snow. I would think the AT4W would also.So they are forecasting snow for us in North Alabama. First, pray because people here freak out. Second, I have just put Falken Wildpeaks AT4W tires on my 22 Ranger. I’ve really been impressed with them so far. Anyone know how good they handle the snow that gets it more than we do?
We got around 10 inches this weekend here. I have been out several times, even during the height of the storm, with no issues. Only used 4H once and that was on a really steep hill. Made it around fine on the AT4W.So they are forecasting snow for us in North Alabama. First, pray because people here freak out. Second, I have just put Falken Wildpeaks AT4W tires on my 22 Ranger.
