21 tremor xlt. Drove up east coast VA to Buffalo. About 7 1/2 hours. Stopped once for gas. 21 mpg. Started trip & was in a snow/ice storm for 1st 2 hours. After 30 min adaptive cruise stopped working. Parking sensors went nuts. When I got gas there was 2” of ice on the adaptive cruise box(and entire truck). Carefully cleared it but it never worked again. Just said standby for rest of trip. So I found in setting you can change from adaptive cruise to normal so I could at least use cruise control. Maybe some wires were also frozen?? Anyone ever heard of this? It’s about 11 degrees so hopefully adaptive will work again when it gets warmer. Wipers are terrible but didn’t like them from the day I bought truck. Drive was super smooth in any conditions and the seat position was very comfortable. Really easy nice drive. Mountains or flat, slow or fast, ice or snow it was a pleasure to drive.

Mine did the same thing on a road trip. Never saw anything on the box, but alas no ACC until the next day. Was also cold/snowy.

If you‘ve got two inches of ice on the sensor, seems understandable that it wouldn’t work. Operational issues aside, I’ve learned that I do not like using adaptive cruise. Every time I use it, at some point I notice cars whizzing past me and I realize I’m following a car going 10 mph slower than my cruise is set for. I‘ll stick to regular cruise.

It'll turn it off if the sensor is blocked and/or when the windshield camera has ice, salt, dirt, frost, bugs, etc in front of it. I'm guessing that even though you cleared the sensor, the camera still had stuff in front of it.

Yes I was more more meaning the fact that it didn’t work again after it was cleared. Staying in stand by. Adaptive & normal both worked well for me. At least we have the option to use either!

Lane assist was working perfect once it stopped snowing a little. Maybe same camera not sure

I used to take the 66 to the 81 to 15N to get to WNY. That's some good timing on your part.

One thing I've learned is that parking sensors don't like ice at all. They are also sensitive to dirt - if you don't keep them clean they will go off without warning. I've also noticed that the camera is extremely sensitive. I've had several instances where was some frost on the windshield and I cleared it off but I get the "camera is blocked, clean screen" kind of notice. Everything looks clear and clean to me but it doesn't like something. It is possible that the ice or snow messed with one or the other of them.

The way I look at it, I'd prefer they err on the safe side with the sensors. If they don't think they can work correctly, then disable them. (which is how ACC seems to function).

I wouldn't worry about it unless ACC still does not work after the snow/ice is gone.

Just to follow up ACC worked again once everything melted. The 400 mile drive back was again great. Comfortable seat and easy to drive. Very relaxing with ACC & lane assist. Really great power when the need came to pass vehicles while going through mountains. It was great at 85 mph hwy for long periods and at 25 mph in small towns. Got 21 mpg on way home. Truck was a beast while I was in Buffalo through all the snow and ice. Never used 4hi. I’m at about 4500 miles now on the tremor. The shifting is very smooth. When I first got it it had the occasional odd downshift but I was told after the break in just drive the hell out of it and I did. I did not miss my old v6 Xterra going up and down the mountains or trying to pass on the mountains.
