Yes had it replaced (wasn't even at the dealer I bought it from). It is their responsibility. Ask to speak to a manager and call Ford if no luck. Or switch dealers
Thanks! I'm on dealer number 2 and they're telling me it's an accessory and not warrantable. It's just incredibly frustrating. Guess I'm going to have to start calling up the Ford corporate route to get this fixed.

Just bad dealers. Ford even published something about it.

I'm here at dealer number 2 now and after digging around on forums, I walked into the service office and said "Do me a favor and look up SSM 48026." The service advisor said... "Oh. That is covered."

They're going to order a new one and I hope the battery issue is resolved...

I just pulled mine off and cleaned up the residue from the double sided tape. I didn't want the thing to begin with and all the dealers told me it was wires in. Wow, how wrong they were. If I didn't have the Ford pass app I could see where it might be useful, but since I always have my phone with me it was a waste of $100. Hope they get them fixed for you guys.

The app doesn't work unless there's cell coverage...

Luckily for me, I don't have my truck anywhere that that is a problem. I hope everyone is able to get their issues resolves and use it as they want to though.

Mine didn't work when I got the truck. It was listed on the window sticker. After a bit of back and forth the dealer refunded me the $95 cost.

I'm in the same boat! I bought it certified pre-owned but both the original factory papers and the dealer's window sticker had the keypad listed. My local dealership has ordered a new one for me and now I'm just waiting for it to come in. I did have them remove it, so it's just sitting in the cupholder until the new one arrives. It is in fact battery operated as some have questioned on this topic. Very clean removal when it comes off and no damage to the paint or finish.

Hope this helps someone else...

If you're having trouble getting traction with your dealership or they're unfamiliar tell them this...
  • Have them look up Special Service Msg # 48026. That outlines the issue.
  • The part number etched on the keypad itself is not listed in Ford's warranty parts system. There's a different part number (Don't know what it is myself) they have to look up to get the part ordered under warranty.

Are you guys that had keypad problems satisfied with Ford's solutions? Do the replacement keypads have better battery life?

Too soon to tell. First one lasted 15 months. Replaced two months ago.

It's definitely better. My first one lasted a couple of months then the dealer tried changing the battery and that lasted a couple of months. The replacements been going much longer. Other Ford vehicles have had these for a long time without issues, this was just a bad batch.
