Unit worked when I picked up Truck. 5 days later keypad shows no LED activity nor will it open to code provided on the little card provided from Factory. Apt scheduled after initial look-see from Service Manager.

To what keypad are you referring?

@Floyd I think they are talking about the optional external keypad on drivers side door to unlock the vehicle.

@Monty @mrohshay If you guys happen to see the keypad out while messing around with this could I get some pics of the back side and the electrical connector?

Thanks...
Daniel

So the dealership told my dad that they only have the stick on ones with the battery now, and that there is A. No "approved" battery replacement procedure, and B. No hardwired option available.

Maybe yours just has a dead battery?

Does anyone have a confirmed hardwired one installed on their truck?

I supposedly do, but I'm not going to rip it off to check :)

The ones they sell as an accessory look exactly like the ones installed at the factory. You sure the Ranger doesn't just use the battery ones?

Nope, and I'm still not going to rip it off to find out.

People have looked and there is no wiring harness listed for a keypad so I think it's safe to assume they are all battery powered. No need to rip it off. Anyhow I wouldn't mind adding one to mine, but they appear to still be back ordered.

The only wiring the keypad would need is power. I sure hope it is wired and not battery operated. It is a factory installed option, and not a dealer installed option, so I wouldn't be so sure it's not wired to power.

Actually on the Ranger it's not even considered an "option" but referred to as a factory "accessory" or dealer installed if you wish. I still think it's the same part either way, but I guess we won't know until the first door panel on a keypad equipped vehicle comes off.

There is no separate door harness part number listed with or without door keypad. So unless there is a connector taped away somewhere in the door on all of the Rangers (with or without factory keypad) then it will be battery powered. At least not for 2019, perhaps 2020 will be different.

Here are the part numbers and description just to clarify. There is no option on door wiring harness with or without keypad. It is 99.9% going to be battery powered.
