There are two types. They look identical but one is for Rangers that come with factory remote start (https://www.levittownfordparts.com/sku/kb3z-14a626-b.html) and one is not (https://www.levittownfordparts.com/sku/kb3z-14a626-a.html).

If you have a Ranger with factory remote start then you can buy the keypad that is for the Rangers with factory remote start and do not need to take it to the dealership to program it. It will come with instructions on how to program it.

If you do not have factory remote start, then you need to but the one that is for vehicles not with factory remote start and take it to the dealership to program.

Thanks Jim,

Its been a while but I believe both programming methods are mentioned in here as well https://www.levittownfordparts.com/docs/KB3Z-14A626-A.pdf

Is this accurate? I read thru instructions linked in the last post and didn't see anything that didn't mention using the Ford scan tool.

I ordered the one that works with the factory remote start and it came with instructions on how to program it with the truck. I did not have to go to the dealer. When I went thru the process of buying it I was told to buy the specific one I did because if I bought the other one (the one for Rangers without factory remote start) it would not work and I would have to bring it to the dealership. So it's accurate as I can say it is being I went thru it.

If something has changed since I did this then I don't know. Bought it back in August of 2020. Not trying to steer anyone in the wrong direction.

Fair enough. Thanks. I have an XLT 302a so I have factory remote start. I would like one, it's one of my most missed features on this truck compared to my F-150's of the past. I think it looks terrible for the most part, but.....Not much of a choice. Worse case I pay a dealer to program it. Hopefully they know how to do it now that these trucks have been out for a few years.

Lol I hear you. Some people have reported hit or miss in dealing with the dealership. I remember reading posts where they ordered it off the official Ford accessories site and selected the $15 dealer install fee and the dealership had to abide by it.

https://accessories.ford.com/actuator-asy-kb3z-14a626-b.html#2020/Ranger

Select your zip code and it will show the install fee at the dealership

Yes, some of the factory installed ones on other models do have hard wiring and are also fastened on. Rangers do not have this style or fit. They are Bluetooth only versions. Batteries last about 4 to 5 years in them.
I think it depends on how often you use them. io have

I bought one a few months back. The one for Remote start. I don't see any instructions other than operation and setting personal entry code that came with it. Is there something I'm missing here or is this still a dealer required programming?
In previous the post from Lewistown its states using the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) option?

The installation price must go by region. It's only $10.00 here and the keypad is $95.00. ?

Can someone show me if there is a set of instructions to add the external Keypad with Remote start option without a dealer or special software? I only received an operation instructions sheet.

Thanks

This is the comprehensive response I've been looking for. Thank you! Wondering if it will be possible with forscan in the near future.
I purchased the keypad and I can’t figure out how to sync it with my truck without taking it to the dealership I followed the instructions and it does not work. Need some help

If your truck DOESN'T have remote start, currently you can't program it yourself.

I can't help you any further since I don't have one.

I did the same thing. Searched on YouTube, and there's a mechanic on there showing that you have to get into the computer to program the one's without remote start. Brought it to the dealer and showed them the video. They did it for free.

Has anyone successfully paired a remote keypad with a 2021 Ranger Lariat? I have pushbutton start, and have found a few procedures to pair the keypad, none of which work. Remote start works fine with the keyfob, I just have been unsuccessful getting the keypad to pair.

I called the dealer, they quoted me $400 - $500 to pair it. I laughed at them! That's a ridiculous price.
