this will seem harsh or like im bashing ford. im not. if one can drive it until the factory 3 - 36 thing and then sell it trade it etc while it is still fairly new low miles and get a bit of cash from it to put toward another ride, they would be ahead of the warranty game. i know many will disagree, and often folks want to keep a car or truck for a long time. thats cool, i get. ive kept some rides for a long time and it was worth it. others ive enjoyed and then unloaded and moved on with a smile.

That is crazy, I wouldn't be happy about that.
At least it is refundable (prorated). But the refund goes to the finance company, which is fine. I'll just have to pay for the warranty myself. That will happen as soon as my '99 B4000 is sold.

Two other things about the Ford Extended Warranty:
- they are transferable if sell it to someone else
- if you never need to use it and trade it in on a new ride, the purchase amount of the warranty can be applied to the cost of the new ride
So, no harm no foul there.

I plan on keeping mine for a long time or more than 3 years so I will be getting and extended warranty from Flood. My warranty expires in June. When should I consider purchasing it or as close to June? I’ve never purchased an extended warranty in my life.

I've never purchased one either but seeing as I'll keep my Ranger longer than usual (3 years) I'll be getting one too. Mine is up at the end of July so I'd say 2-4 weeks prior to that should be good. I like to have a little buffer in case there's any problems.

The sooner the better. It may cost a little more if you wait. On the Flood Ford site, it asks for mileage
and time of purchase.
And it's my understanding that the ESP starts from day 1, mile 0 when the vehicle was purchased, not when you buy the ESP. So, if you buy a 6yr plan, you are only getting another 3 yrs.

As it has been alluded too, never ever buy a 3rd party warranty. They are too expensive, and too danged hard to negotiate the exceptions. Plus, your dealer service dept doesn't want to take the time to call the support number and be put on hold just to be dicked around when someone does answer the call. Stick with the genuine Ford warranty. If you ever have to use it, it will ezpz. Ask me how I know. :)

Thanks everyone for the good info. I had considered trading the truck before my 3/36 warranty expires, but I like it so much I may keep it and buy the extended warranty. Especially if this crazy inflation/ chip shortage is still an issue.

Go with the Ford ESP from Flood. You can get an 8yr 150K bumper to bumper with $200 deductible for about $2500. No aftermarket can match that.
Really? My plan I bought through the Ford dealer is 150K miles, time frame is life of the vehicle, $0 deductible for $1850.

Andrew,
Not sure if you have seen this yet, but the best deal possible on a Ford warranty. I bought an 8yr. warranty from Granger Ford last week at an exceptional price!
