I finally ventured on to the interstate while towing my new travel trailer. Going about 65 mph, the truck shuddered real bad for a second or two. About 30 seconds later, it happened again, but did not stop until I let off the gas pedal. As I pulled over, I noticed the check engine light was on. According to my FordPass app, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp was triggered because the engine system had detected a misfire fault. I limped the rest of the way home, but did eventually make it. Dropped the truck off today at the dealer. They will call me when they figure out what is going on. I have a 2019 XLT with about 9900 miles on it. I bought it new about 2 months ago.

Have you ever stalled it? I've stalled it both pulling into, and out of, my garage. Seems weird to me that an automatic would stall. Currently I have 3818 miles on a 19 that I bought on 1/1/20

No, I've never stalled it. No indication that anything was wrong until it happened.

What kind of fuel were you using when you towed?

93 octane from the same Chevron station I always fill up at. I do usually use 87 though. Just use the higher octane when I'm towing.

Unrelated, but FYI it takes a while for the computer to reset the OAR when you change gas. If you fill up with 93 just before towing it probably won't make a difference until you're most of the way through the tank, or maybe the second tank if you weren't all the way down to E.

That is good to know. I've been trying to run it near empty then fill up with 93 right before we leave out.

Was just curious. It didnt have anything to do with your problem at least preliminary considerations dont indicate it. im compiling a data list looking for links in ozone depletion related to mods purchased
I also have the dealer installed brake controller (not for free) and am missing 2 tie downs in the bed.

I was going to point the finger at bad fuel, but Chevron stations are usually good. It's generally a good idea to NOT buy the premium fuel at a station which wouldn't sell a lot of premium as it tends to sit around and pick up water.

If the station you were at isn't in an area with a lot of premium users, I'd still be inclined to say it was fuel related.

It's a pretty busy station, but I'm honestly not sure how many people are using premium in that area. I had probably gone close to 100 miles on that tank before it started acting up. Just driving normally, it runs fine, it's when I really step on it that it started misfiring.

Update - I got my truck back today. The dealership said it was a bad coil wire going to cylinder 1, they replaced it and the problem was fixed. I got on the interstate after picking up my truck, mashed the gas down to pass someone, and it started misfiring again. CEL started blinking. I slowed down to about 50-55, the light went off and it started running normally again. The misfire only seems to happen when you really push the pedal down, it runs fine just going slow around town. Taking it back to the dealer tomorrow.

You either have a full tank of shit gas, or no longer have ringlands on cylinder x. I don’t see it misfiring after they changed the coil unless they did the wrong one, or the plugs need to be regapped. Regap to .028 and try the floor it again.

According to the sheet they gave me, they only changed the wire going to cylinder 1. It ran great for the first half of that particular tank of gas. I don't have the sheet in front of me to tell you which error code they got, I will try to update when I have that in front of me again. I will tell them about the plugs when I drop it off again tomorrow.
