Engine cover install kit - what you get

So I read guys were getting misfire codes if water gets into the spark plug holes. My 21 LX came with no engine cover. So I headed to ebay and bought one for $99 with included hardware from Rod Baker Fordstores.com ....heres what you get / do ....VERY basic but I figured a few may be interested. J

Don’t think I payed more than 50 bucks for mine. The hardware is also optional but helps. They’re asking way to much for some bolts and nuts that also come 4 to a pack when you order them. Still have 6 bolts in my tool box. Now I also added a badge to mine just to set it apart seeing it’s a collector’s item now!

Can I ask how did you attach the oval? Is it staying on ok?

I attached the oval by punching some strategically placed holes for the mounting bosses to go through then used a crap ton of hot glue and also filled the holes I punched before sticking it on. Has been on about a year now and still holding well. I was going to use the push nuts on the bosses from the back but have not needed to do so as it’s holding fine.

just an observation,

many people buy this cover for several reasons
one of which is to quiet down the noisy HPFP

as you see in the pics above, it doesn't even go over the pump, and the pump already has a feeble cover on it. its dB killing abilities would be very minimal at best.

why has no one made note of this before?
many people have bought a placebo and now likely tell themselves "gosh by darn it she sure is a quieter motor now" when its just a hat for the engine

BUT...it's sure to add several HP by "smoothing" the airflow over the top of the engine. All those peaks and valleys and hoses n stuff sticking up must trap air, thus slowing down the truck.

I glued a screw to the back of the oval and put it through the foam with a nut and washer on the back. It should never come out. I also used a silver sharpie on the eco boost letters. Thanks for the great idea.

Here's the source. I also used 1/16" thick x 1/2" diameter rubber washers under the hand nuts to keep them from loosening.
