Has anyone heard or figured out WHY they made the change to the Temor?Tremor only
Hi Lee,Has anyone heard or figured out WHY they made the change to the Temor?
Hi Phil,Hi Lee,
I think they could price Tremor to cover the cost of CVs over U joints.... I may be wrong but I have seen this before in my time at Ford.... Improvements added to only top of the line models...
Top of the line model buyers essentially off set the added cost and then it trickles down to the lower class vehicles... JMO!
In theory this should be correct but only way to confirm is to take a Tremor model to a independent certified driveshaft company and have them perform thorough analysis both on/off the truck. Any balance or phase issues would be seen at that point.Since Tremors have the CV, does that mean no Tremors have the, uh... tremors in the drive train? Does the CV eliminate start up shudder and vibrations at speed?
Also: will the Tremor shaft assembly reduce/remove the start up shudder when pulling away from a stop?Any chance the Tremor shaft assembly can be installed on my FX4?
I don't remember hearing of many if any Tremors with the startup shudder. But then again there are so many post and threads on this issue to tell. And many of these post may be vibration from other issues not related to startup shudder, a lot of confusion of terms. The exact cause has yet to be discovered. Nobody can explain why so many don't have it. And yet some have it so bad.Since Tremors have the CV, does that mean no Tremors have the, uh... tremors in the drive train? I actually had my truck into the dealer service department for this shudder and a few other things last week. They say that the tech tested the truck and could not feel the shudder... but my truck has dashcams that auto-record any time the truck's ignition is on... and I reviewed the footage after picking up the truck. The tech never road tested it for this issue.... so, yeah.I don't remember hearing of many if any Tremors with the startup shudder. Until some how we can get Ford to do a comprehensive vibration analysis across multiple vehicles with the shudder using common testing equipment and methods to track down a cause, any solution is a wet fingered guess. What may work for one may not work for others
Good luck getting that analysis to happen.
That's why it is going to take a Ford tech with Ford equipment running a standard test procedure on multiple vehicles with this issue. Dealer techs are not trained to do this type of analysis. Some are not even trained on the vehicles they have to service. Not likely to happen.I actually had my truck into the dealer service department for this shudder and a few other things last week. On a side note, they also claimed that the tech checked the transmission fluid level... but again, the footage indicates that was never actually done. The truck was never put on a lift, and was never driven / left running long enough to bring the trans up to temp to check the level. My service advisor told me that the trans has a sight glass that the tech checked.![]()
Okay. I've come around to the idea of a one piece drive shaft. I'm a sales guy and drive my truck on the highway 99% of the time between 80 and 85 mph. My concern with a one piece is critical speed. Did the one piece shaft make the your truck smoother on the highway and have you had any issues running at 80-85 mph or more? That's where my truck spends a large part of it's life.Money better spent just going with a one piece replacement. IMHO
If you have any questions about a one piece driveshaft, email or call Shawn Woods at Tom Woods Driveshaft. He will take time to explain how they engineer a shaft.Okay. Already have. He couldn't be sure about the critical speed concern. I'm just wondering if your truck is smoother at hoghwsy speed with thevone piece. If you have any questions about a one piece driveshaft, email or call Shawn Woods at Tom Woods Driveshaft.
