Driveshaft install gone wrong

Hi all!

I was replacing my driveshaft when on the differential side, one bolt broke, I proceeded to torch and PB blast for hours to no avail. I eventually tried an extractor, and broke one off in the bolt (it looks like someone has had it off before, and cross threaded it home). I am now at my wits end with this. What is my option? can I replace the companion flange? if so, how is the job? it looks like it is one singular nut, but I am worried about the torque, as I know they are sensitive.

I don’t know if this is a feasible option.. but drill it out, re thread, and use a slightly larger bolt?… thinking about it though it might cause a imbalance from the slight weight difference..(that could be splitting hairs though.)…
Maybe have a shop do it?
like you I would feel slightly uncomfortable replacing.. and take it to a good shop. (Specialty shop if I could find one.)

You can swap the flange, but it technically requires removing the differential cover. And the carrier because there is a torque test for rotating resistance.

However there are online write ups on how to do it the back yard mechanic way.

If you drill it out can you put a helicoil in it or is that too much torque, I have only had one out into a lawnmower for a sparkplug.

Retap it, helicoil and use the oem size bolt?
