Ok, I had Eibach struts put on last year with the factory FX4 springs for a 2.25 inch lift on the front. I also had 1-inch shackles put on the back. This spring I bought a pair of Eibach springs and icon tubular UCAs with the goal of going to a 3-inch lift on the front. Finally had the work done in late May. Less than four weeks later I crawl under my truck during a random road trip check and saw grease thrown all over the inner side of the driver side wheel. Called the shop that did the work, scheduled an appointment. They put it on the lift for five minutes said the worm clamp was the point of the leak and that it should be covered under warranty. Schedule an appointment with the dealer and finally get in today -- they say it's because of the lift itself and any resulting wear won't be covered. No point in arguing with anyone on that front, but they said they also can't replace anything unless I went back to factory spec.
I don't want to go back to spec but I also don't want to burn through CV axles every 5k miles or so. Should I consider dropping down to. 2.5 inch lift or so? Any other thoughts on what to do?
FYI truck is currently at 22k miles.

It was never designed for that much lift.

If the CV boot is ok I would just put a new clamp on it. It may have just not been very tight from the factory. The boot should easily handle the same range of motion that the CV joint can.

Some others on here have dropped their transfer cases to gain back some of the offset that is causing problems. Pretty sure once you do it may not be able to go back to stock.

i get the vibe the shop that did the work is sorta washing hands of it by pointing you to the dealer.
Maybe take it to third place for more than the fast glance and see what the extent is. If they have no skin in the game other than earning your business, they will likely shoot you straight on the real culprit and fix.

I’d be curious to know if the shop removed the axle nut and pushed the axle through the hub to relieve all the cv joint/boot tension during the strut installation. I’m just over a month of driving with mine lifted and no issues as of yet.

My bet is they popped the CV when installing the lift. Try and repair and see how it goes.
If it happens again, you could try a diff drop kit. I have had zero issues with mine.

this. depending on how they did it, there are a few videos showing how the CV could pop out when installing which allegedly damages it with decent frequency.
